Why is it we all tolerate what in real life we would not take The art of being someone’s friend just to use them for our own sake

When did we ever say that we

regulate anonymity

Nor wish it on another soul

to bestow mediocrity

 

This virus if allowed to grow

will infect each and every one

With the feeling of helplessness

hiding the dark within the sun

 

We lose good people everyday

tired of wondering on their friends

They will keep fleeing from this site

until this childishness here ends

 

I can't speak for everyone

but for myself I will say this

I would never let a nightmare

send me off to the great abyss

 

Why is it we all tolerate

If you can't find it in yourself

to be truthful open and kind

You are wrong simply to assume

that we are all deaf, dumb and blind

We all want the same thing here.To meet and share with friends. I say we stop tolerating this nightmare that never ends. Some will say I should not be so upset .Let it roll off.But I have never lain down for abuse. I would rather be knocked down.
A man can always take comfort
in the things he must abide
To look in the mirror fallen
taking resp-it from that he tried

Lately the bad actors are coming out of the woodwork and i am half tempted to open a site just to list each and every one of their names for the sake of the good people here.
Today one of these vermin trashed the work of David Lewis Paget. I say enough is enough! Even if it means we have to publicly out them !

Most know who the main problem is on here. Desbest said it well. For a while this virus was abated, but it is like Herpes and it keeps coming back. I have no problem blocking and ignoring, but it gets uncomfortable not knowing who you can trust. I just purged approx 75 people from my list of "friends." I will not leave because of a few trouble makers. As a few of us have concurred that this is a social experiment. Konsor lets anything go. Like Animal Farm or Lord of the Flies!

Tate, Thank you for writing, and quite well I might add, what many of us have thought. A virus can only do damage when it's in a host, and unfortunately, I don't believe there's a workable vaccine for nasty. But one thing is certain, I will not let any hateful, stupid virus control what I do or do not write. (submissions or reviews). Perhaps that's a way to handle it- block, ignore,? Again, thank you, Tate.

As for ratings, in my opinion, I think that they're fun, nothing more. I love input from the reader. I think I'm going to not check the ratings box for a while.

I dont say ratings are a bad thing heck I use them myself each of us know the value of them as it makes a piece get noticed it is the use of down rating another that makes it a shame

I have to say I notice this most with contests. I never see ratings so low anywhere else. I assume the other contestants are the ones downvoting, but that's still just as bad ad any unfair criticism.

This is something that needed to be said, you have done a great with this:) I think that it is more important to meet new people and develop new friends. I have to say I have met some really cool people on here and they have been great. Helping others, talking with someone, and just being a great person in general.
You are right we are all here for the same thing, what is the rating button have to do with anything? Yes, we like to see that people like our work, but them leaving us comments lets us know what is going on with that:)

I am by no stretch of the imagination naive, but I find myself trusting people on this site; I expect them to tell the truth...which, for anyone who knows me IRL, knows that is not me...I am cynicism personified. (even you know that)

This is such a poignant write, Tate, because it exposes that predatory element some people use to make themselves feel like they have power. But a predator is a predator, and if their prey is too gullible to see the jaws clamping down around them, I feel for them, but that is the circle of life, yeah? We either kill or be killed. I'm not condoning the behavior, please understand, but I am not condemning it, either...we all have a role in life. Some of us wear our thick skin like armor, and some of us shiver in the paper thin need to be liked.

In a perfect world, there is balance. On WC, there is the tipping of the scales one way or the other, not a whole lot of happy medium...I know you know where my scale tips with you.

I think when you have people gathered together for on purpose there is always the childish ones in the bunch. It is sad that we all can't respect each other's talents no matter at what levels we write. It is too bad that artists need to escape into a world that is so much like real life it is not even funny. It is very sad. It ruins the whole community in my opinion. Very well written and expressed.
