The Writers Cafe Virus

The Writers Cafe Virus

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Why is it we all tolerate what in real life we would not take The art of being someone’s friend just to use them for our own sake

"

When did we ever say that we

regulate anonymity

Nor wish it on another soul

to bestow mediocrity

This virus if allowed to grow

will infect each and every one

With the feeling of helplessness

hiding the dark within the sun

We lose good people everyday

tired of wondering on their friends

They will keep fleeing from this site

until this childishness here ends

I can't speak for everyone

but for myself I will say this

I would never let a nightmare

send me off to the great abyss

Why is it we all tolerate

what in real life we would not take

The art of being someone’s friend

just to use them for your own sake

If you can't find it in yourself

to be truthful open and kind

You are wrong simply to assume

that we are all deaf, dumb and blind

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
We all want the same thing here.To meet and share with friends. I say we stop tolerating this nightmare that never ends. Some will say I should not be so upset .Let it roll off.But I have never lain down for abuse. I would rather be knocked down.
A man can always take comfort
in the things he must abide
To look in the mirror fallen
taking resp-it from that he tried

Lately the bad actors are coming out of the woodwork and i am half tempted to open a site just to list each and every one of their names for the sake of the good people here.
Today one of these vermin trashed the work of David Lewis Paget. I say enough is enough! Even if it means we have to publicly out them !

Most know who the main problem is on here. Desbest said it well. For a while this virus was abated, but it is like Herpes and it keeps coming back. I have no problem blocking and ignoring, but it gets uncomfortable not knowing who you can trust. I just purged approx 75 people from my list of "friends." I will not leave because of a few trouble makers. As a few of us have concurred that this is a social experiment. Konsor lets anything go. Like Animal Farm or Lord of the Flies!

I don't understand who exactly this poem refers to. I know there are a lot of "writers" on here who add you simply for your photos or your name, and don't bother to even read your work - why add at all?! that's one thing that gets to me. but other than that, Tate, I don't understand who your irritation is directed at. could you explain to me? i'm curious, that's all. :)

I agree with Gracie..., but this is an issue to be highlighted, nonetheless.

I don't know. I don't like duality, and fakiness, and/or predatory behavior. But even though I know things are not always as they seem, I don't seem to be too adversely affected by whatever games and so forth exist.
I do often wonder why people would go to such great lengths to gain opportunity or advantage, but not for very long.
I think people should be nice to each other and at least try to tell the truth.

I must say that I completely agree with the sentiments of this poem and was given the privaledge of reviewing it before Tate posted it here. Because this is a public forum it will always be open to the petty minded. However, those of us who wish it to remain an inclusive forum for writers, will need to defend it from time to time. This is such a time. We have the tools at our disposal in that we can choose who we have as friends, we can choose who we subscribe to and we can choose who we block. They are there for our protection so we must use them. Eventually the petty minded will get bored and go back to facebook or twitter or wherever.

I don't know.. I have faith in people and always think the best of all .. I feel so bad for the people involved in this .. and the anthology thing.. I don't know .. I think i am too mellow.. i just let things go.. it is just me.
I read and read and few return the reviews but i don't care really.. some seem rude though when they don't say thank you ... most do.
Don't have any friends i use for my own sake .. care for each of my friends that i know ... i was accepting every friend request until I realized they only wanted reviews...
I think you are talking about something different.
Hope things work out I care for many here.

Yep, yep, yep!! Well said, and amen! :) I like the way you've said it, and I like OT's solution as well. ;)
