Man

Man

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

By taking life what do we gain rendering us all one has owned Do we inherit sorrowed pain for our own failure to have grown

"

Many men awed by another

have then sought out their fellows land

Man shall turn brother on brother

to steal of him his woman's hand

How do we claim the virtue love

yet pray to our war in the same

We speak of peace from up above

then kill each other in his name

By taking life what do we gain

rendering all someone may own

Do we inherit sorrowed pain

for our own failure to have grown

I see good men, both meek and mild

but those who kill so needlessly

Take life of someone’s loving child

depleting all humanity

What will they say when we're no more

beware those who kill their own kind

We will become what all deplore

until only the wind you'll find

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
A simple note to mark the passing of the human race. If we continue to mortgage our children's futures, someday we will be a footnote to history.

this poem really tells how this world is turning into something that we shoudl not be proud of. and if we continue to go this route, its not gonna end up very pretty

Whoa this poem is too much. It's really good. Killing people in the name of religion is ridiculous. I've favourited it.

Truth hurts. I wish more folks could see and feel these cautionary words of wisdom. Thank you.

You never cease to amaze ... Awesome poem . I found the rhyme just a little disturbed in the last paragraph , but that is a blemish(if at all it is) to be hardly bothered about . Superb work , love it .

Given reason through love, hate, religion or doing good for fellow man. All these we have heard endlessly. War in any form is still a battle of man against man. Each side feeling justified in their cause and neither is right. Sadder still are the flocks of soldiers led by the hands of madmen to whom they give their lives to serve. The human race will never find peace as we will always be plagued by greed, stupidity and hate. Great poem to sum it all up and tie it together with sad truth!

No truer words written here my friend.. We, as a society our our worst enemy.. It's a shame that only a handful see that. The way we are going it will be a sad place left for our children and their children . This was fantastic!

I've often wondered about the reasoning behind so-called "holy wars". It seems idiotic to kill somebody in the name of a god who is supposed to be representative of love and peace. The ability to reason things out is supposed to set the human race apart from others, yet we still fall into territorial disputes like rabid dogs. Well said.

This is beautiful Tate! As I was reading I started thinking about my own son, then read the Author's Note and thought WOW. I wish so much more for my child and I am sure my parents wished more for me. How to stop this particular cycle is a myth to me...I want to be more to my child than a whisper in the wind. Perhaps if we all thought in this manner, come together as a whole unit then I we can bring about change. Wonderful write as always!

Another huge subject for me. Tate, you say it the way it should be said.
I admire your strength and forbearance. The wind will blow a tempest before things dare change, it will take many more of your kind to light the way out of the storm.
