Man

Man

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

By taking life what do we gain rendering us all one has owned Do we inherit sorrowed pain for our own failure to have grown

"

Many men awed by another

have then sought out their fellows land

Man shall turn brother on brother

to steal of him his woman's hand

How do we claim the virtue love

yet pray to our war in the same

We speak of peace from up above

then kill each other in his name

By taking life what do we gain

rendering all someone may own

Do we inherit sorrowed pain

for our own failure to have grown

I see good men, both meek and mild

but those who kill so needlessly

Take life of someone’s loving child

depleting all humanity

What will they say when we're no more

beware those who kill their own kind

We will become what all deplore

until only the wind you'll find

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
A simple note to mark the passing of the human race. If we continue to mortgage our children's futures, someday we will be a footnote to history.

A dreary picture of a manly kind
Not leaving much room for a revolving mind
What I foresee within this mystery
Is the top few sarges will yield their charges
As folks like you and me make free
Our minds and hearts... and blessing starts
To be the new way... to save this day

I like the theme of the piece and identify strongly with it. I particularly like your word choice of “...sorrowed pain....” I’m not sure why that resonates with me so much, but it does.

Poetry is always difficult to comment on, I either like it or I don’t, this one I like.

How very wise......and true, such a well well written piece, how is it we are children of the world, who set examples for future generations..........and yet we cannot muster basic compassion and humanity for other's ..............greed and power.........that is what life has become. You should have this published everywhere.

"but those who die so needlessly
Are no less someone’s loving child
a part of all humanity"

as the whole entire piece is flawless in the telling ~ of man,
the above lines really stood out, because this is an idea I stress:
that we are all part of the bigger whole and no matter what, whether someone is "good" or "bad" ~ in the end, we are all the same, human beings, we are all someone else's child ~ and we need to start acting more like one rather than an animal

This is so true. It's absolutely beautiful. I don't know what else to say. It leaves me practically speechless.

I dont believe that the world will end because everyone is too busy having senseless dick offs. No, when there are no more poets, artists, musicians, creators... then humanity it truly doomed. But one line I do like is "We speak of peace from up above then kill each other in his name." It's shows how people twist and contort something that is meant to be pure just for their own sick pleasures and others have to pay for it. On a grammatical note. If you are speaking of God then you should capitalize the H in "him." I like this good friend! Keep up the great writing!
