Youthful Vision

Youthful Vision

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Our minds are what capture and keep good and painful thoughts that abound Should we choose to tolerate them bad times will be our only sound

"

Old years like waves broke on the shore

a burnt sky felt both dark and gray

The winds had howled so cold and long

my soul was beaten night and day

I wonder if there was a time

when I could have turned right not left

And in so doing change my fate

thereby saving this heart bereft

But those are thoughts best left alone

to think on when there’s nothing more

As now we have the blue-sky smiles

bright summer,  red eves to adore

I find they are just our choices

that is which times we think upon

To live in pain from days gone by

or within the light there-upon

Our minds are what capture and keep

good and painful thoughts that abound

Should we choose to tolerate them

bad times will be our only sound

For me I choose the bright sunlight

spring times when I was but a child

The favored memories of days

when I ran torrid, fast and wild

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I decided long ago that when the winds blew me cold and long. I would simply look within myself. For memories of days when I was sleek, fast and strong.

My man Tate...

"I wonder if there was a time
when I could have turned right not left
And in so doing change my fate
there by saving this heart bereft"

There was a time, and you used it wisely, as the "road" decision is part of all of our histories..Frost knew what road was best for him, and so did you..

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

You are just "telling this with a sigh"..in this poem.
And I am glad to have read it.

The pen takes over for strong muscles, sometimes..and your pen is "sleek and strong"

We can keep the bad memories that made us suffer or replace them with new one's keep going moving our lives don't the bad memories that taught us made us stronger one's that didn't totally bruise our souls that built Character pain can be a teacher if we don't give up keep going i feel many times in our lives we go through some sad and rough trials of storms on our paths but the LORD he's there and the we don't let the drama bring us down keep going life is so percious and full of adventures as a child a parent and a grandparent if you don't lose that little boy or little girl inside makes life so much more magical and innocent you're painting your life with the beauty and imagination of your heart allowing the holy one to shine through you & that little boy or little girl that never left you Cheers Enjoy life seems yours still has many adventures and hidden tresures to find my friend with your amazing children of yours. god bless & and many happy adventures to my friend lily

Well written, a kind of sentimental retrospective weaved with tolerant optimism, and a choice to capture the brisk childhood days of tag and dodge ball so as to forever hold and treasure them as time slows our escapades.

This makes me feel peaceful, because I too can just close my eyes and think about memories gone by. Maybe it makes me alittle sad too, but we'll always have the memories. As alway an excellent job!

Great poem and sentiment. That choice to hold on to the bad thoughts or memories can so bring us down unless we replace them with better ones or hand them over.

Super write Tate. I love the positivity from this, whilst reflecting on the past, but not dwelling too much.
Excellent job! :)

I can sense so much in this writing...possibly as my own life had a lot of downs in it..most I do not like to talk about as memories from youth hurts so bad..Not like you, I prefer the peace I find in my heart today..yesterday brings pain and thoughts of running blood amd amom that was always gone..Deep thought provoking write, now I feel down..Kathie
