Ivor

Ivor

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

It would seem my friend has faced the last sunset as he did life, with dignity. This is for our friend and fellow poet Ivor, Poeticpiers

"

He sees the world through learned eyes

that have witnessed many affairs

All the rising, falling empires

through history's gaze he now stares

But on they come from far and wide

beating a path up to his door

As if what they had to offer

he had never heard of before

Yet still they will not stop trying

to sell him wares of their own ways

And save the soul of this good man

before he meets his end of days

As a product of the old school

he's seen it and done it before

There is no need to prove himself

to each child who comes to the door

They could stand an education

from this man with a long life span

Never try to teach an old bard

on the new ways of god and man

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Ivor is one educated kind soul .Whose intelligence leaves him the unenviable task of having to witness the truths of life. Thankfully he possesses the heart of a lion and soul of a poet He is a humble man .I am sure he will protest that he does not deserve this. But I say he does. Who are you going to believe? It would seem upon investigating last night that the reason I hadn't heard from my friend of late is that he passed away. I will miss him. He drove me to excellence and made me admire him. Goodnight Ivor my friend from across the pond. Ivor wrote me 16 poems over the years as he did with his friends most of them anyway. We exchanged thoughts and ideas. But he could not imagine how this one would drive me to create all the poems I call my own. Thank you Ivor for taking me under your wing when I first came here.

How beautiful it is my friend, to be inspired by our fellow poet, and writer, "Poeticpiers" He was a good writer, and person on the site...he is still missed around here. Your words, and ode to him, giving me the chills all over. Give me flashbacks, reminders of how this place a long time ago was... goosebumps for this ode you made him. Thank you for sharing your light on this place Tate.

That would be great! thank you ;)
Beautifully written, as always. I love the idea of this one...with age comes the wisdom to be comfortable enough with oneself to withstand the test of time. Young ones will come and go, but good, strong, educated souls dedicated to their craft possess the seriousness to endure. Well done tribute, Tate.

thank you
I have only just been introduced to a seasoned soul as this; rest assured I will read his words, and devour every morsel. I don't think I will believe the old soul, Ivor's words, for surely as a humble poet, he will not see himself through truth's love eyes. This piece you've penned as tribute to a man seems fitting for it is simple, kind and to the point. Lovely, poignant write.

Their is nothing more beautiful than to hear someone speak out of life lessons they have learned and the wisdom they have gained because of it.

He's been around the Cafe for a long time! He's a gem. To that there is no argument. A very nice tribute.

Hi Tate,

This is another nice one, and even if the poem was trash--which it's not--the poetic spirit of the poem would still carry the day! A wonderful work of the heart. This is moving. We immediately know it is heartfelt. And, of course, the subject of your piece, Sir Poeticpiers--Yes, I do now knight you, Sir--is a staple of WritersCafe. So the honor is worthy and deserved.

My highest regards and best wishes! A noble write!
