The Long and Winding Road

The Long and Winding Road

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Emotion so bare and open fearing no more of the night Said come back again and again stay with me till morning light

"

Rebecca

Oh so fragrant the air was tasted

when first our souls did meet

Wafting on to the fading night

spoke of smells so ever sweet

Emotions so bare and open

fearing no more of the night

Say come back again and again

stay with me till morning light

Thirst overpowers my senses

with promises of love each day

Saying to drink of your fountain

swearing you'll show me the way

So short the time we have to be

oh what shall I do with mine

Give of my heart to another

or simply drink of the wine

I'll trust in you my happiness

life seldom gives but just one turn

while knowing so well the danger

I still wish to live, love and learn

Tate

Sometimes love is in the first sight! This was written for Rebecca. Seldom do the paths of dreams and reality meet .Rebecca is one of those.

Great romantic poem that exspresses that love at first sight can happen! The song is an excellent choice with this poem!

I love the penetration of her eyes. That's a really good picture.
Lovely write - you pack some great images in here.

I love this so much it actually made me tear up because this is the kind of love that I always dreamed of having in my life, not the nightmare that I lived. So thank you for this at least I can imagine how it feels to be so in love that it is ''UNFORGETTABLE''...and I love the song.

So beautiful in so many ways. Lovely imagery right from the start - I love the first stanza...

Such an elegant and beautiful poem.... I don't know what else to say!

A nice poem, asking and answering an eternal question. I'm not sure about the first line (the syntax seems a bit off - I don't think this has anything to do with meter because the number of feet is a bit off). I like the 4th stanza best and really don't see that the 3rd stanza moves the poem forward. All in all a good effort (with just those few glitches). :-)

I think you should have a font as beautiful and as poignant as your poetry. I was excited when I clicked on the link and was brought back down when I saw the plain, large font.

On a more positive note, this piece allows the reader to create their own story. Mine was exquiste and blissful. I imagined a vampire (no relation to the sparkly ones we have come to resent!!) stealing your heart as the night came in, filling you with promises of a love and affection. You were just an ordinary man, and your emotions were taken and shaped into the night. You say so much with so little. That is the mark of a true poet.

Absolutely beautiful...
I seriously know no other word to describe how I'm feeling right now.
This was wonderful.
