The Long and Winding Road

The Long and Winding Road

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Emotion so bare and open fearing no more of the night Said come back again and again stay with me till morning light

"

Rebecca

Oh so fragrant the air was tasted

when first our souls did meet

Wafting on to the fading night

spoke of smells so ever sweet

Emotions so bare and open

fearing no more of the night

Say come back again and again

stay with me till morning light

Thirst overpowers my senses

with promises of love each day

Saying to drink of your fountain

swearing you'll show me the way

So short the time we have to be

oh what shall I do with mine

Give of my heart to another

or simply drink of the wine

I'll trust in you my happiness

life seldom gives but just one turn

while knowing so well the danger

I still wish to live, love and learn

Tate

Sometimes love is in the first sight! This was written for Rebecca. Seldom do the paths of dreams and reality meet .Rebecca is one of those.

Emotions so bare and open, love this line. This is how it should be. I think a lot of us start out this way but allow so many things through the cracks that we close ourselves off to the one we love.

Simply beautiful and endearing!!! To be "unforgettable" in another's heart is surely worth more than silver or gold - especially when we realize the risk and danger of completely yielding ourself to the trust of another!

Dear Tate,

Beautiful openning lines:

"Oh so fragrant the air was tasted
when first our souls did meet"

This is another of your sensitive and tender pieces, Tate. You have the romantic, poetic mind, that's for sure.

Greatly enjoyed.

Best regards,

Rick

oh, this is lovely. It is so nice that you can tap into these feelings and portray them so sweetly in your poem. I love the last line:
while knowing so well the danger
I still wish to live, love and learn
it is such a positive message. I believe there is nothing more important than love. it is all about the giving and receiving. that trust and exchange that leaves you so open to the dangers as well. but it is way better than clamming up and never letting anyone in. it is worth the risk.
