Simple pleasures are their own reward. People we don't need 15 pairs of acid or stone washed jeans. That come in 28 different sizes and cuts. Happiness comes from needing little and giving much. If you learn to be content everything else is an unexpected joy.

i am speachless yet it makes me sad with the children of today i reach out in prayer if i can't go that far to little spirits like that this was just so lovely it touched and Broke my heart so beautiful Life is too short to wast i will agree on that looking with a pure child like heart also helps us see the things we are blind to thats how i see life even though some of the world is currupt we can't allow the curruptness to stop us from enjoying the small littel beautiful things of life like our life early morning sun sets Beuatiful funny shapes in the clouds god gives us so amazing make our hearts smile and that little happiness and laughter is good for us make the day well worth living every day. Thank you for sharing my friend you always have such beautiful and wise words May God bless you and your family always i hope you're well and your family as well take care lily :)
This is truly a beautiful piece. Honestly, every time I read an entry in this site, I am surprised by how much all these entries and writings affect me. I am still a child myself, someone who cannot truly be independent yet who isn't completely dependent. I'd just like to say that, as far as childhood goes, I didn't work for myself.
Seeing, watching, and knowing that many children of today still suffer from 'child labor' because of poverty... it hits me, right in the heart. Because my whole life I've never truly imagined it can happen. And it did. It had been happening way before I was born.
As you've said, in a little child's simple and innocent ways, we see ourselves. Who we will be one day. What could possibly happen, what we could possibly end up becoming in the future. As I write this, I remember that we all must have suffered one way or another, that we all must have seen a thing or two that gives us a new perspective.
I love the last two lines, by the way. It's one of the things that people of today have forgotten. Or they seem to, in my point of view.
Our spirits do run cold as we get older, for we have forgotten much wisdom we knew when we were children... When we are open to the smile of a child, and allow his eyes to meet ours, they can help us to remember. Beautifully done, Tate.
You have such a kind heart, Tate---
love these lines:
"A little thing from a kind child
who then shared with me his treasures
Taught me the virtues of the mild
exposing life's greatest pleasures"
