The Ides of Winter

The Ides of Winter

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Our days lit by constant sunshine strength in numbers was our design In hand me downs we ran through town with baseball bat and ball of twine

"

Our days lit by constant sunshine

strength in numbers was our design

In hand me downs we ran through town

with baseball bat and ball of twine

By golden skies and rustled tree

for reasons yet unknown to me

My eyes were keen to beauty seen

this soul my own as I was free

When Ides of Winter come to be

oh times when lives were all carefree

Follow my track all the way back

to friends who meant so much to me

WOW.. Awesome!

"Then we aged the world took over"

^ Amazing how you shift the pulse and meaning of the poem with just one line!

"When Ides of Winter come to be
oh times when lives were all carefree
Follow my track all the way back
to friends who meant so much to me"

Got me nostalgic there :( Perfect write brother! :) Keep writing.

Tate- you are fabulous! I just love reading your poetry. It always delivers. I could almost feel what it was like to be you as a young man. I DO miss my youth! I am glad that you have memories that you can enjoy, like I have. It takes the sting out of aging a bit, doesn't it?

Oh the days. I am thankful to have happy childhood memories such as these.
Your words are refreshing after a long and hectic day. Thanks. I needed this.

Youth, I know sweet memories..Carefree indeed, and now its almost the opposite..We always reminsce those times, they were so precious..:) But there's hope in "now" as well..You'll find it.. Love the way you rhyme so effortlessly, you've really become a wise craftsman.
Critic : You could elaborate a bit more, more metaphors perhaps?.

I love this... this is going into my favorites. This was such a beautiful way to portray childhood and innocence, and then once you grow older, nothing is as wonderful and beautiful as it once was. I remember my childhood filled with laughter and cotton candy, and friends and long summer days, having adventures. I miss those days so much right now. Thank you for bringing me back into my childhood, even if it was for a short time.

Summer is a great season but not my favorite. I prefer Autumn.

Summers were always golden, running through heather completely barefoot and cutting our legs on it was a past time here in Wales. This poem was poignant and extremely well written Tate. Thoroughly enjoyable!
