Fate

Fate

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

For when could I say that i believed I was such a treasured soul

"

Lucy

Lucy Hamilton

 Princess of Ireland

When could I say that I believed

I was such a treasured soul

To give up the life you've conceived

for a chance at half not whole

Having tasted the nectar of life

who can say they would pass it on

For years full of trouble and strife

filled with all of what was, now gone

Life wasn't meant to cost so much

that you pay for your love in tears

I couldn't bear it to be such

that I cost you unhappy years

Many a night I looked up in awe

to the sweet sky above my head

Longing to be that star you saw

to hear the wistful things you said

So now I lie in wait for dawn

watching the stars all twinkle out

Dreaming of things that were, now gone

we never thought we’d live without

The tide of time continues to ebb and flow, moving us onwards, and despite the joy that awaits us sometimes we are left greiving for a part of ourselves that we lost along the way.
Beautifully written as always!!

Your poem was delicately written, and I loved every bit of it. There's a saying that says "We never know what we have 'til it's gone" and that is the impression your poem gave me. We always want things that are better, that we go blind on the things we already have. In the end, when those things are gone, we go looking for them and trying to win them back. We always tend to take things for granted.

I loved every bit of this poem because I am guilty of always wanting more in life- of not appreciating all the blessings being given to me. And again, your poem served as a reminder. Very very well written. Keep it up!

This poem is very well written, it’s very deep and emotional. It’s a great story written in a poetry form, the imagery, details, and expressions come out well through your words. There is still a bit of mystery in the poem, it’s clear but at the same time something is hidden within those words. That’s one thing I like about your written, they are very mysterious. Great job again!!!!

Wow, this is very beautifully written (as is all of your work). I love the sense of wistful imagination it brings to life.

Beautiful poem- I really loved the third and fourth stanzas. :)
One thing- did you mean to capitalize "the Lord"?

It is crazy how our lives change so much over the course of time. Like you said,
"Dreaming of things that were, now gone
we never thought we'd live without."
So true to my life are these words. So many things I thought at the time of loss would have killed me, and almost did, but somehow I survived to move on to the next heart break. However, to have a heart break means you have had a love first, so bring on the love. Maybe one day I will see a love without the break.

Great write!
RLG,
Tommy
