well done Tate ... top notch rhyme rhythm and story telling says i! its an old and well worn debate which comes first ... the feeling or the thought .. the chicken or the egg ;) personally i don't think we can "feel" without first the thoughts ... just try "feeling" something without thinking first ;) but i hear the message in this loud and clear ... its the surrender to passions that breaths all the colors and fiery turmoil into ones life ...all the heartache one has is well worth the experience of strong emotional love and desire ... a great addition to your poetry here at the Cafe' ... always a treat to see you have posted anew!

Strong message, keen observation. Age old struggle, mind and heart. Here in, there does lay a difference between man and woman. They each use their minds and hearts, but seemingly at times for different purposes, towards different perspectives, always hoping to catch-up, meet-up at the other side. It's all part of life, and our choices of how much of it we want to live.
A good portrayal, well versed and leaving nothing out for those who seek. Tate, the quiet teacher for those who choose to learn. Bravo.
Beautifully written, we women can love heart, mind, body, and soul...give ourselves completely. We bet the farm, that someone outside ourselves could be the source of love "for" us, without them we don't have it. When the "idea" of being loved does not seem to manifest as hoped, falling apart with broken hearts, can and often does occur. That idea seems a bit of a mistake, we put the cart before the horse, we must have "that" love already, inside of us, then we have something to share with someone else. Then, no matter what happens, we won't break our own hearts and want to go blind. Men and women could be our own wellspring and then we have something to share as equals. But then we wouldn't have poetry or love songs. Just a thought.
This is something I can relate to and understand. I'm constantly fighting that inner battle between heart and mind. "These two dance through life together/two parts of one soul/each searching for the love of another/while chasing a different goal." Thank you Tate, for putting it so perfectly into words.
