Homeless Soul

Homeless Soul

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

The lonesome anguish beckons Love lost aches and torments so Ferrell demons of the black night Seem as to never let him go

"

A man knows not his purpose

until left along life's road alone

Letting go things of his former life

caring not what he may own

As then he finds solace to cry

when he sees that he is so real

Living through dark rains night

he then knows that he can feel

In that one divining moment

his purpose becomes so clear

Caring no more for adventure

he now knows the taste of fear

The lonesome anguish beckons

love lost aches and torments so

Feral demons of the black night

seem as to never let him go

The love that once beheld him

has him thinking he's insane

The mirror shows no mercy

to the face held in it's pane

The man you passed by the road

who looked as to never sleep

May be he that touched love's heart

with a soul both wide and deep

Tate

Having been divorced I can tell you it is not unusual for a man who loves with his heart to inherit the winds of perdition.

A very deep piece; very open and honest. There are many shades to the love dream and most people seem to focus on the beautiful beginnings or the bitter end, but not so much the aftermath. Seldom do we delve into what we carry with us when the love is over, reflecting on the person we once were as opposed to the person we are now. How often do we stop to think about how love, or being in love, has changed us? How often do we consider that after love is lost we have something gained, even if it is only an understanding of who we are? This work really gives one something to think about, and I feel, as with most good poems, it is open to different interpretations pending upon each person's personal experiences with love and love lost. Extremely well written.

Thank you so much for entering your poem in my competition.

It is well thought out, raw and thought provoking. Every line is perfect!

I particularly liked the fifth stanza, it highlighted the madness we all feel when faced with ourselves and our own thoughts in times of heartache.

Again, thank you.

have to say this is at the top of my list sir! that moment in time, that a man comes to this point, is kind of earth shattering ... a shocking reality for that homeless soul .. reading it in your poem i am amazed more poetry has not been written of it .. i know that fear .. and realization that our "fulfillment" actually belongs to others that are part of our lives ..not ourselves ... one of your best says i!

Tate, this truly touches my heart and soul, I still live in that fear as I've been homeless, but was fortunate enough for someone to take me in and give me a chance, I could be facing this again, and it hurts so bad inside me right now, too many things going in me right to much to say without crying, but you poem really means something, I sometimes send some of my homeless poems to street sights, and they have been published in their news paper, as well as I am in their this years calender, loved your poem and thanks for sharing xoxo

Love is part of the universe. It's a big place. Is it punishment when you begin to find and define your space, temper where your love truly burns? Hearts are strange, they expand, warm, inspire... but they can only hold that which they are made for- yet they try to absorb the entire universe, pushing against the timeless expanse with desire and sacrifice. It's a fools errand, yet... and errand we all run with.

To love with ones whole heart regardless of the potential pain is a great gift seldom shared. This man has loved deeply and regardless of the pain it has brought he will love again.

I cannot agree more with the theme of this fantastic poem!
...This is something that most broken men share: this deep soul that was cast aside by a lover.
"Those who can gain the most are also at risk for losing the most. Take a look at really smart people, are most of them happy?" -My Philosophy Professor.
Owning a deep soul can open up doorways to meaningful and profound relationships. But it can also lead to deep dark depression. People always write about love in poetry with such passion and excitement. But the deep stuff is here: in this poem. This describes spiritual beings! Our ups are as only big as our downs. Here is the down... GREAT JOB!

Standing on the scars of our hearts , is the only road ,lonely and bent, wrapped in the hounds-tooth cloak of a has been, wool wet with tears or rain , burnt at both ends
allowed to endure, ours to endure.
