Remember Me

Remember Me

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

When April swells the marshes The red winged birds will know

"
Uncle Ben
Uncle Ben

Remember me as I was then

not like you see me now

The laughing carefree way I stood

too towered and taught to bow

The happy young man you once knew

who's eye's were clear and bright

Played together each day in the sun

danced alone in the soft moonlight

Rather you see what I was then

than what I have become today

A warm heart who loved you so

with the strength of fire to play

When April swells the marshes

the red winged birds will know

To pipe these two words lightly

to all the winds that blow

The trembling stars of the night

once bold bright shining too

Turn their heads from me now

as I do now from you

YOU will be remember to all that cherish you. To all those whose lives you've touched and all who have reached out to you. To remember you would bring us all joy as reflecting on who you have been to each of us your light will remain as bright as it has always been... No matter when we met you, no matter how long we've known you, the soul of you remains as pure as goodness gets. No matter what mistakes have ever led you astray, those were lessons, the growth, instilling the very goodness in the Man you are today.
Your words are strong with emotion and hope as you express the hope of how you wish to be remembered. As always such a soothing flow. Another great poem Tate!
You know I had to add my 2 cents. lol

What a wish to wonder 'bout. I too, have wondered how folks will remember me when I am no longer... I hope they remember the fun we shared together and share the tales with their loved ones along their way. A line from the "Remember Me" episode of LIttle House on the Pairie" comes to mind... "if you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all." GRAND choice of "background music"!! I've been listening the that Beatles tune since I was a child in the 60's.

We all wish to be remembered in the best light. But over time even the bad memories become good ones and worthy to remember as they then create the whole picture about us. Still we prefer to bury those bad memories and times.
