But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

Thank you Dave my theory on this is that though they are my experiences and thoughts the music and t.. read moreThank you Dave my theory on this is that though they are my experiences and thoughts the music and the melody of the piece seems to access the part of the brain that allows us to recall lost words to an old melody. For that reason even though they are mine they are everyone's as well . So that no matter that they are my emotions that created them they release others emotions as well.Just as a smell of cookies reminds us of grandmas house so do the melodies of these pieces release the memories of the reader concerning similar events.
Age teaches us to appreciate the simple thing in the grasp of our hands. A excellent poem with a very good story. Thank you for the beautiful poem.

I love those lines. How true. It's a shame so many young folks won't listen to the experience of those older. Then maybe they'd have the best of both worlds. A beautiful piece.
