Why Me?

Why Me?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What have I learned in my trials so far

"

Scout and I

What have I learned in my trials so far

I think all I need know for now

Been broken, tattered and forlorn

then beaten and made to bow

With time our life so gives

then alongside it must take

Carving character as it goes

a better man of us will it make

As I no longer ask the question

God traded me wisdom for truth

Teaching me the meaning of life

in exchange he took my youth

But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Nicely done. I think perhaps instead of futile-ness...the word futility would add artistic practicality. Otherwise, a nice poem.

Wow! That was amazing. The loved the way it rhymed so perfectly everytime.

"As I no longer ask the question
God traded me wisdom for truth
Teaching me the meaning of life
in exchange he took my youth" -- My favourite lines indicating the fact that it takes a lot of time to really understand what life is all about.
