Why Me?

Why Me?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What have I learned in my trials so far

"

Scout and I

What have I learned in my trials so far

I think all I need know for now

Been broken, tattered and forlorn

then beaten and made to bow

With time our life so gives

then alongside it must take

Carving character as it goes

a better man of us will it make

As I no longer ask the question

God traded me wisdom for truth

Teaching me the meaning of life

in exchange he took my youth

But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

I often ask this question to myself indeed.
But, this is a beautiful and a very thoughtful piece of writing here.
Very deep, the idea has been executed very well here.

The past paragraph rings with a rather saturnine honesty, not to mention a great deal of sage realization. If we knew in our youth what we know now, oh how frightful a force we would have been... yet happiness would have not been given. Too any good things heaped upon one another--early on--later exacts an equal and opposite reaction.

in exchange for your youth.... this is a wonderful write... full of truth and honesty. Your youth may be past but, keep in touch with it by once in a while being silly doing things you did long ago not knowing that one day you wouldn't have to the time to be a child all do to becoming a man; adult.
