Why Me?

Why Me?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What have I learned in my trials so far

"

Scout and I

What have I learned in my trials so far

I think all I need know for now

Been broken, tattered and forlorn

then beaten and made to bow

With time our life so gives

then alongside it must take

Carving character as it goes

a better man of us will it make

As I no longer ask the question

God traded me wisdom for truth

Teaching me the meaning of life

in exchange he took my youth

But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

Life is a lesson you gain, even your inner sef discovery as you said, true. The fourth line of the second stanze I appreciated the most. Grace ane Humility, with this, above the sky is any man's limite. The poem touches life. Well done.

Thank you Onyia-ota Grace and humility the recipe for success.
A view of truth we will all read with new eyes as the years teach us what only time and experience can teach. There is the gift of spiritual discernment many young minds are granted, but the vast majority will be only bettered by the trails they trod and the years they can never go back and do over...

One of your best poems IMO.

Sigh...I feel older just reading this one Tate.

I have gained a glimpse of life
few men have ever known

Why not you? You're luckier than most to know these joys, and on your journey learn from your trials and tribulations, not to mention write exquisite poetry that fuels the very core.
