Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows?

"

My Mother Marquita

35 yrs old

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

_____________________________

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

As a mother myself I know that a Mother's love is really all a child needs in order to thrive. True that to bring a child up right you must provide other necessities but generally speaking here love is the foundation that holds all of it together. This was such a lovely piece. Words cannot truly describe my way of closely treasuring every stanza but hopefully it will have everlasting life in the minds of others. This was truly special.

A man who denies that his light of illumination is something less must certainly be mother's favourite. Nice write!

Once a mother, always a mother...her heart doesn't know how to quit, even though her son is gone. All life will be especially precious to her from now on. I applaud you, Tate, for helping her to celebrate her wonderful son's life.

No one cannot and your poem very articulately resonates that. It's beautiful the way you've portrayed the selfless love of a mother - the love that gives everything and asks for nothing in return.

Eternal the love of Mother and all for her. Mother Nature's everflowing nourishment fills the heart and gives us leave to return in kind. I love your choice of pictures and especially the little one.
