Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows?

"

My mother Marqita

My Mother Marquita

35 yrs old

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

_____________________________

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

Sounds wonderful in your head and sound excellent out loud espcially the ending with "Don't let life pass you by." Either way you did and marvelous job and message recieved and that is so sweet and caring so may Kathy be blessed and recieve a hand clap for a job well done. Love the emotions imagery and espcially the reference of the breaking of the bread. Anyways it was power, it was truthful and it reminds us all that it isn't the building or materials that makes something a home but, the people who live in it which, makes a mother and her love such an important thing for I know without my mom their be no such thing as home.

this piece brings me back to a time when i could feel such a connection. any time i think of her i think back to that time, a time when she was strong-a time when she did not attack. i thank you. it has been locked up inside me, hardly a chance to make it's way out. it was hard for me to read this, but i am glad that i did. thanks for sharing brother..you always have a way of easing the pain. cheers.
