Mother's Love

Mother's Love

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

This is again a touching and beautiful work. I am saddened for you and your family's loss. Such beauty out of sadness...this most likely made her weep and weep, but what a treasure to have.

Dear Tate,

I have to agree with my friend Mark, and as I'e said many times in the past, yours is a romantic and passionate heart. And I, too, like Mark's choice of

"What man fears not mortality
who stands in line to die"

As a favorite set of lines, but I will pick

"She feeds the souls each evening
round fires of brotherhood
Bringing like and not together
as each one knew she would"

as my second favorite.

Tragedy fills the life of many. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Some are lucky. Some are not. Some win the jackpot while others struggle for food. We live in a Universe where a comet impact can wipe out the entire race, a planet where this has happened 26 times in the last 850 million years. Everything is transitory. We must live and love as much as we can in the time we have. And I know this is not lost on a man such as you and I suspect this is not lost on Kathy. I'm sure she pour out the love as fast and as frequently as she could. She loves and she is loved.

Much respect and sympathy for your family's loss. Take comfort in each other.

Very best regards,

Rick

this one made me cry a bit. My mom and I are a tad distant. I catch myself with my own children, always wanting something closer. A beautiful piece.

You speak to us all as if you are welcoming us, allowing us glimpses into your personal daily life. The pain must be great in times like these. I hope the words that you share, give you and your loved ones solace.

Thank you for sharing your humanity.
