A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

No hungered child is a lost soul Nor a beggar be taught how to live By preaching morals to the poor We take from whom we should give

"

Becky Payton and I

Becky Payton and I

Many men are at times misled

as most could be thought of as blind

Measuring by what they won't do

instead of to whom they were kind

Attempting to build an empire

judging themselves by what they deny

Thinking them best who resist temptation

be it a crime for a man to cry

No hungered child is a lost soul

nor a beggar be taught how to live

By preaching morals to the poor

we take from whom we should give

Goodness is not what we won't do

nor a question of who we exclude

It is an unselfish act of Humanity

to see ourselves in those we include

Five stanzas of near perfect poetry. Each stanza is a self-contained lesson (parable) and they are tied together by the title and pictures. The styles of individual lines are consistently interesting (stilted language in some ways, archaic in other ways, but all working together for the overall effect of the theme). And, a good theme - God's work (if you think God needs an apostrophe to help His work, check line 16. Great work on this one.

I loved this poem Tate!
You tend to write in absolutes that sing loud your passion for subject.
Goodness is not something we can teach by writing poetry or by preaching. This is a lesson learned by knowing the hearts of those around us and by letting them know our own.
Giving a hungry a fishing kit and lessons on how to fish, may be the best way to feed him in the days to come. Yet the gift of a meal today will teach goodness that gives him the will and the streangth to live into tomorrow. A fine lesson for the heart that can be touched by it.
Well done!

Perfect!
my friend... i must say... this is perhaps mine favourite of yours! or at least of them!
bravo!
it shone through with rhyme and melody and weight like a bright light in a meadow of pain and darkness!
such thoughtfulness!

This is very true! Sometimes I want to help and I don't have it...but I pray that someone that can, will be able to bestow a blessing.

Such truth spoken here. I always wonder how I would feel if I were walking in their shoes and I was passed on by.
Too many times people seem to artifically pay homage after the fact, after someone has died

The ironic touch of the poem very much displays human character. I love the way it contains strong morals and the way it upholds human responsibility in a really compelling way. The conciseness and elegance of its style is also outstanding.

Keep Writing. ^___^

How many times do we walk by those we could so easily help? Too often Tate. But I am finding that we all need a helping hand sometime in our life and now I find my self stopping to say Hi how are you today or buying a lunch for someone on the street or giving a few bucks when I see someone in need.
This was so beautiful. I am amazed my you writing and how you always seem to put the perfect song and photos to your writing.
Awesome, just awesome
