A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

No hungered child is a lost soul Nor a beggar be taught how to live By preaching morals to the poor We take from whom we should give

"

Becky Payton and I

Many men are at times misled

as most could be thought of as blind

Measuring by what they won't do

instead of to whom they were kind

Attempting to build an empire

judging themselves by what they deny

Thinking them best who resist temptation

be it a crime for a man to cry

No hungered child is a lost soul

nor a beggar be taught how to live

By preaching morals to the poor

we take from whom we should give

Goodness is not what we won't do

nor a question of who we exclude

It is an unselfish act of Humanity

to see ourselves in those we include

Five stanzas of near perfect poetry. Each stanza is a self-contained lesson (parable) and they are tied together by the title and pictures. The styles of individual lines are consistently interesting (stilted language in some ways, archaic in other ways, but all working together for the overall effect of the theme). And, a good theme - God's work (if you think God needs an apostrophe to help His work, check line 16. Great work on this one.

Another, high quality, well formed and penned piece of poetry.
Excellent content here. If this poem doesn't make you think, then you don't have a mind or the capacity to do otherwise.

A wonderful aphorism on the value of true giving, Tate. It is the stuff from the mind of heroes.

_Exciting poem, Tate. I fear that your question is answered in depressing numbers... sometimes I think the speed and mass of News that is shoved in our faces depresses us with the feeling that there are too many needs and not enough time or money and that keeps us from seeing the individual right on our street that needs help

Yes so true we need to open our eyes and help those in need, but instead many just live in their own greedy, selfish bubbles. Well said and beautifully written.

Reminds me of living in Boston, I would frequently sit in Harvard Square, with anyone who happened to have a cardboard sign and just shoot the s**t.

People are people, and more often than not, simple acknowledgement comes off pretty profound in comparison to monetary donations.
