Time Ago

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

When a young man I so loved you With heart and soul both bold and true

"

When a young man I so loved you

with heart and soul both bold yet true

The fates have come between us both

though my feelings still speak of you

This was a love without a ring

instead kept by the heart and kiss

That also didn't fall with time

nor with the childish loss of bliss

When love is tethered to the heart

possessed of happy devotion

The passing years will never dull

the height nor depth of that ocean

So it was as it should have been

this love bound only in spirit

Would not be shed of by the grave

nor by those who failed to hear it

Life the timeless healer has once again conquered all. As what was once a torrid tempest has become a minute squall. The Light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long!

So profoundly beautiful, expressed through the misted windows of time. You create such a longing for what was.. a reflection of love and life gone before... There is a rich depth in your words that connect us with such emotion. Wonderful write...truly.

Very deep and emotional.

There is good imagery here. the meter is good and the rhyming precise (some lines are a bit stressed, though). I really like the third and the last stanzas for their message and think they are the stongest stanzas of the poem. Nice tight flow of theme throughout. Good work.

This is a great poem. I love the flow of this poem. It is easy to read and there is no hidden meaning here. All is said plainly so nothing is lost. Great job on writing this poem.

Very nice write. Very sincere. Can't quite identify with it as I married my "high school sweetheart" and just recently had my 30th wedding anniversary, and we're still going strong, but I can definitely feel the love and dedication in this piece.

A romance, a storie, a poem, a life time... words and love... amazing.!

I agree with this; I have had a few friends who dated since high school only to get married ten years later and divorced within a year after the "I does." The so called ring which binds tore them apart.

Great write!

Tommy
