Time Ago

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

When a young man I so loved you With heart and soul both bold and true

"

When a young man I so loved you

with heart and soul both bold yet true

The fates have come between us both

though my feelings still speak of you

This was a love without a ring

instead kept by the heart and kiss

That also didn't fall with time

nor with the childish loss of bliss

When love is tethered to the heart

possessed of happy devotion

The passing years will never dull

the height nor depth of that ocean

So it was as it should have been

this love bound only in spirit

Would not be shed of by the grave

nor by those who failed to hear it

Life the timeless healer has once again conquered all. As what was once a torrid tempest has become a minute squall. The Light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long!

So profoundly beautiful, expressed through the misted windows of time. You create such a longing for what was.. a reflection of love and life gone before... There is a rich depth in your words that connect us with such emotion. Wonderful write...truly.

Nice write! I read it a few times, as I often do. And I am both perplexed and intrigued with the questions that this piece poses. It's such a finite vision you've painted here, and yet, it spans such a wide range of possibilities. It's both ethereal and corporeal. Almost a hallucination of reality! Really enjoyed this one.

Ah Frankie baby. He had more cool in his pinkie than most entertainers have in there entire careers. It was war generation cool so it was a different vibe. I'm down with the photo of the chick too. The rhyme in the last stanza is gold. Excellent poem Tate. You're not someone I'd expect to see put out crap, Me one the other hand...

Thank you it reminds me of a day in my past too. My first kiss
Love the rhythm and the rhyme almost as much as the sentiment!! Love bound in spirit never really dies, even though both may have moved on. Time has a way of making us forget the pain while embellishing the good times. The pieces of our hearts we gave away remain with the ones to whom we gave them and even death has no power to change that.
