Poetry

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Poetry and I laughed to see what with her beauty she had done We sat under an umbrella while we both waited for the sun

"

Poetry had once walked with me

held to my heart when I was sad

Helped me mend from the pain I penned

brought comfort to sorrows I had

Poetry watched my heart shiver

gave me a blanket for the cold

Held my head while lying in bed

made me wish to live to be old

Poetry then danced the night away

to entertain this sullen heart

Both cried to the tale, I tried

from life's wisdom she did impart

Poetry was my only friend

as rain poured upon hallowed dreams

Lessened the toll on my soul

lent me comfort or so it seems

Poetry offered me her hand

as we danced around the pouring rain

Washing away in just one day

what poison wreaked from months of pain

Poetry and I laughed to see

what with her beauty she had done

We sat under an umbrella

while we both waited for the sun

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
My darkest days were comforted by the poetry they inspired.
One of my favorite poems is this one. It tells the tale of how pain is so relative to our age and circumstance
Softened by Time's consummate plush,
by Emily Dickinson

Softened by Time's consummate plush,
How sleek the woe appears
That threatened childhood's citadel
And undermined the years.

Bisected now, by bleaker griefs,
We envy the despair
That devastated childhood's realm,
So easy to repair.

Such a strong dictation of what poetry means to those who create it. Completely the truth, the comfort and joy of such a thing that we may give birth to that shall never judge us, ever. In a world where nothing makes sense, we can create a map through our words and be cradled by our emotions. Bravo!

It's the first time I've read a poem that speaks as much dedication and passion for poetry as you do. No wonder you're such a great poet. I see poetry is an inseparable part of you, very much like a lover. This is amazingly done and simply brilliant. You have deep and inspiring thoughts.

Keep Writing. ^___^

I wish it would rain too, no really we are in a drout here, need rain. lol
I love this song, and of course fits perfectly.
love these last 2 stanzas
Poetry offered me her hand
as we danced around the pouring rain
Washing away in just one day
what poison wreaked from months of pain

Poetry and I laughed to see
what with her beauty she had done
We sat under an umbrella
while we both waited for the sun

You know what I think, I think you like to make me cry. lol
No realy this is wonderful, yes in some of our darkest days in life can be comforted with the right words, when nothing else can.

Tate
Rain is the driving factor in this beautiful poem..
I often wonder what part of the brain grasps inspiration,
what short circuits normal thinking, and sends a shock down the arm to the pen?
This time it is the thoughts of love homoginized in rain water..and done so in a beautiful, poetic way..

Such a beautiful and touching poem. It was such an honest and passionate poem. Poetry heals hearts and helps you through your darkest hour. I couldn't imagine my life without it and your poem describes that feeling all too well. Poetry is Love. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece.

This is the sweetest poem and touched my heart... rain isn't a curse, but a blessing in ways that we just don't see! :)

OMG!!! Darn the tears. Tate you are amazing.. This spoke to me, your words are like none other and man I am at a loss for words. The tears no, but words, yes..

your love for poetry as a savior is palpable .. a befitting ode to poetry .. to an art form that has enabled us to share and know each other , to open up and release the emotions that would otherwise been caged in our hearts ..

Your piece inspired me to write my own poem of the same picture.....but of course your poem is obviously better and way more romantic than mine :)
