Poetry

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Poetry and I laughed to see what with her beauty she had done We sat under an umbrella while we both waited for the sun

"

Poetry had once walked with me

held to my heart when I was sad

Helped me mend from the pain I penned

brought comfort to sorrows I had

Poetry watched my heart shiver

gave me a blanket for the cold

Held my head while lying in bed

made me wish to live to be old

Poetry then danced the night away

to entertain this sullen heart

Both cried to the tale, I tried

from life's wisdom she did impart

Poetry was my only friend

as rain poured upon hallowed dreams

Lessened the toll on my soul

lent me comfort or so it seems

Poetry offered me her hand

as we danced around the pouring rain

Washing away in just one day

what poison wreaked from months of pain

Poetry and I laughed to see

what with her beauty she had done

We sat under an umbrella

while we both waited for the sun

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
My darkest days were comforted by the poetry they inspired.
One of my favorite poems is this one. It tells the tale of how pain is so relative to our age and circumstance
Softened by Time's consummate plush,
by Emily Dickinson

Softened by Time's consummate plush,
How sleek the woe appears
That threatened childhood's citadel
And undermined the years.

Bisected now, by bleaker griefs,
We envy the despair
That devastated childhood's realm,
So easy to repair.

Such a strong dictation of what poetry means to those who create it. Completely the truth, the comfort and joy of such a thing that we may give birth to that shall never judge us, ever. In a world where nothing makes sense, we can create a map through our words and be cradled by our emotions. Bravo!

Wow! So very touching and so well expressed. Your emotions are so real and out poured here. This is wonderful. I like this I found it touching as well as very sincere.

First, I love this picture...very emotional. Nice device, repeating "Poetry" in the first line all the way through. The second stanza is exactly why I write. I want to live to be old in order to feel all life's ups and downs. The last stanza is so sweetly done! Nicely wraps up this beautiful poem and solidifies the "personification" of poetry. My only comment is I agree with Salvatore on the "Touched my head while lying in bed."

Thanks for soliciting my comments,

Pat

I like this piece. Poetry for me is a release of emotion, and when expressed well it is a picture of feelings painted by the author. I think you painted a wonderful gallery of pictures here; I see your picture sitting in a room and pouring yourself out on the page, during all of life's ups and downs.
Great work!

Definitely a beautiful heartfelt piece. It is itself an inspiring write. Your last line is particularly touching. This piece promotes such a wonderful way of making it through difficult times. Writing and reading are both such great ways to "work things out" and to help one come to understandings.

Like S.W. Scaggs, I give major kudos for this poem! This was really good, and I can really relate to this poem. Through the toughest times of my life, it gave me an outlit to express my feelings without saying anything. :]

So like every other poet, this is a very good, relatable poem.
