Life's Treasures

Life's Treasures

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can anyone know what will come when the wind blows us cold and gale Or what direction it be from when finally we set our sail

"

The old songs loved from long ago

come to me from my long gone past

On winds they caress me tonight

whispering from dreams I had last

The old days trooped by in glory

paraded across my life's field

Displayed in panoramic view

how many dreams they have revealed

Faces long gone look out from mist

to this once wandered man to be

Speaking from my past adventures

beloved friends long a part of me

Oh how they flood through my mind

to speak of days that've gone by

Forcing me to look to the one

that came from acts I can't deny

We are not each one right nor wrong

we are the result of our times

Held to account for all the good

as well as for all our crimes

Mystic chords of my memory

look back on the road I traversed

Remembering moments I loved

as well as those I have cursed

While each loved soul has given time

to pursuit of living pleasures

Only by reflecting on life

do I recognize its treasures

For me, this work brought to mind and held shades of classicism, an influence, such as: F. Scott Fitzgerald, writing in a life as 'Victor Laszlo'
in the setting of the ambience of Cassablanca. As the picture here evokes such a character image, or possibley The African Queen the film with Humphrey Bogart... a portrayal, of such a character. These imagined and invoked, yet knowing. It is as original, as Tate Morgan and his life & times.
A life story, no not novelized or told of in other. Than Life's Tree.
As it is lived, through a Poets Eyes.
Immortalized, in scripted...
Excellance.
This piece reflects the depths of a painters image, on a canvas of words.
As it plays like a movie, through the readers mind. Enough said.
A Classical Portrayal, of A Man.
Striving...
For that perfect edge.

Dear Mr. Morgan,

Let honor be given where it is deserved, as it is here. Thank you for your reviews in the past and they are most truly appreciated. The topic of this poem is very original and The Temptations are an amazing band. We as humans think it is precious of time as we see it now, but when we look back at our struggles and precious moments, they become ever more precious. "Mystic chords of my memory, look back on the road I traverse. Remembering moments I loved, as well as those I have cursed." These lines speak out to me. The flow in this poem is great. This poem in general is great. Robert Frost could not depict reflection of time better honestly. Thank you for sharing this piece and for reviewing me in times past. Kudos. 10/10.

Sincerely,
S. W. Scaggs

Very timely - I am getting ready to embark on the biggest adventure/change of my life - moving from PA to CO - and I will be doing a lot of reflecting in the months to come. Recognizing the treasures that I have seen and experienced through my own reflections - you have touched a very important part of who we are. Keep it up!

Had to read it twice to get the full message then appreciated it !! Nice wording with hints of memories, sadness and maybe even deja vu, makes it an interesting piece of personal tapestry.
Thanks for sharing Tate.
Hope you are well.

This has a mystical sense to it, and shows me a vision of me as an old man. It makes me wonder if I'll remember you as I do now, or even what I know. In that sense, it's also quite haunting.
'Twas a bit difficult to understand at first, but I understand it now. Keep up the great work, if you see it fit to do so.
