On a cold wintry Vermont morning a de-shoveled man and Bernie Sanders walked into a shoe store on Church St in Burlington Vermont. Bernie had made his acquaintance while walking down the street. The man didn't have proper footwear for the cold. Bernie tells the clerk to fit him him with the best winter boots he has. Bernie pays the shop keeper shakes the mans hand and leaves. No media,no story, just Bernie!
Story accurately portrayed as it was rendered by eye witness Jeffery Weigand

Well let me say first of all one thing. You are one of the best talents on this site by my way of thinking. Now that being said, I will go on to say that you have a knack in bringing forth writes that not only touch ones heart, but also are able to make them weep from the feel of your words. And in my opinion if one is not able to feel your words, then they just aren't reading it as they should. And that is with an open mind, heart, and soul!
This was perfection.. Don't care if someone feels the rhyming is forced, for it's not. The words man, the words! Look within the words, that's what it's all about.. Sorry if there may be any mispelling here. Then agian I'm not the one being rated am I! (Smile)
This is so amazing Tate, I love the last four lines. This one kind of made my cry a little, because I am not homeless. I do live in an abuse shelter right now and I feel so all alone. Your work is so amazing, yes....I said it again for it is true and we never know people what people go through unless we walk in their shoes.
Thanks for the great write.
Compassionate write, tate. You are always considering those who are less fortunate......i like that.
We have opened up a new soup kitchen in our town and hope to get a grant for a homeless shelter as well, in time. It does feel good to be part of the solution, no matter how minimal it is.
Your expressions here are both profound and powerful, waking us hopefully from our complacency for the cause of those who have no place to lay their heads... especially as the cold fills the world around us... Excellent write.
Beautiful and filled with saddness. The winter is very cold and to be alone in those conditions is heart breaking. I wish I could open my doors to all that are homeless :(
For those who have no where to go who are homeless or no heat in their homes we who have something should think about and do something for them. We could easily end up being them. Wonderful write. As I read it it made me think of Sara Teasdale's writing again. Similar style or voice, perhaps.
If I could open the doors to all homeless folks, I would have to own a mansion. I live in a warmer climate, but am not immune to those out in the harshest of elements, alone. This is an excellent reminder that we must care for those with no warm place to call home. Nicely done, Tate.
