Childhood Friends

Childhood Friends

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Now a father of my own; I see him bright laughing still.

"

 start

As dawn broke bright on my soul

Gifting the small child in me

Was the warmth and perfection

In all wonders I could see

One day my path crossed a boy

This child of kind persuasion

We became the best of friends

I still think of him on occasion

He was dirt covered and black

From coalmines where he would play

We would smile each time we met

Then play tag all night and day

He'd offered me an apple

We each took but half not whole

For it cheap at half the price

To make friends of this new soul

Now a father of my own

I see him bright laughing still

That smile from my sweet childhood

Running happy down the hill

Tate

This is a moving piece of poetic art, Tate. All of your work strikes me as one who has come to understand that he has made many mistakes in life. Taken too many things, loved ones for granted. And rather than sit back basking in sorrow over all that has past, and can't be undone you do as any wise and intelligent man would. Look back on your mistakes to see just where the errors were made. Trying to take a positive away from the experience. And then trying to pass the knowledge you have gained onto others, so that they hopefully won't make the same errors. Only intelligent people learn from their mistakes, not allowing them to weigh them down. Life is but a learning block. We walk it everyday...
Another deep meaning, and most touching poem, Tate. Magnificent!

very nicely worded.
it had this sweet storybook-like feature to it that i most enjoyed.

i found this line to be a bit odd though: "For it cheap at half the price; To make friends of this new soul."
i couldn't make sense of it with the rest of the piece; it just seemed a tad out of place.

overall, it contains great imagery, and the tiny details is what will make this stand out in my mind and be something memorable.
good job.

A very nice sentiment here. I like this image of the child running down the hill. We lose some of that special innocence as we grow up and its nice to see it manifested into physical form. I see the child as a redeemer of sorts.

Very artistic here. This write is warm hearted and passionate. Loving family and friends is a deep feeling that sometimes is taken for granted. Tate, this poem is true, very good!

It's almost like a sad memory, thinking of that little boy living in poverty and
you two becoming good friends and thinking of him again when looking at your
own son. Perhaps you're wondering what ever happened to your little childhood
friend.

There is a lot of emotion is this piece,
a very excellent piece I think.

He offered me an apple;
I took half but not the whole.
For it cheap at half the price;
A new friend for life his soul.

I loves these words here, This whole write was so amazing!
I can really feel the emotion you put into this write.
Very well written and expressed.
