Childhood Friends

Childhood Friends

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Now a father of my own; I see him bright laughing still.

"

 start

As dawn broke bright on my soul

Gifting the small child in me

Was the warmth and perfection

In all wonders I could see

One day my path crossed a boy

This child of kind persuasion

We became the best of friends

I still think of him on occasion

He was dirt covered and black

From coalmines where he would play

We would smile each time we met

Then play tag all night and day

He'd offered me an apple

We each took but half not whole

For it cheap at half the price

To make friends of this new soul

Now a father of my own

I see him bright laughing still

That smile from my sweet childhood

Running happy down the hill

Tate

This is a moving piece of poetic art, Tate. All of your work strikes me as one who has come to understand that he has made many mistakes in life. Taken too many things, loved ones for granted. And rather than sit back basking in sorrow over all that has past, and can't be undone you do as any wise and intelligent man would. Look back on your mistakes to see just where the errors were made. Trying to take a positive away from the experience. And then trying to pass the knowledge you have gained onto others, so that they hopefully won't make the same errors. Only intelligent people learn from their mistakes, not allowing them to weigh them down. Life is but a learning block. We walk it everyday...
Another deep meaning, and most touching poem, Tate. Magnificent!

inspiring and the same tender affection that you share for all, i love the emotional flavour to it taking us back to our childhood, sunny and simple, strides of a compassionate and gentle pen, keep doing the good work,it reminds of the poor writer led to heaven by angels ,a very tate flavour,,,

This was very thoughtful and moving indeed.
I absolutely loved the last paragraph a lot and the way with which you concluded the entire poem in it was very interesting to read.
Great work on such a relating plot.

Another wonderful piece, Tate. It's got such an innocent, light-hearted, tone to it. It's fulfilling to look back from time to time and remember or think about those people that touched our lives or made an impression upon us at some stage in our lives, only now, as a mature individual, we see things differently (even the scenes from our past).

What a great story this poem is. Your description brings the reader into the story with such gentle ease. Great job!

As with all you work this is a wonderful piece. Memories are very dear and should be held close. The lessons learned, the love shared, and the fun and laughter are never really gone as long as those memories remain.
