I felt you looking towards the future..reflecting on the past...reminiscing in the moment. I liked the title and the picture too...so telling. The Old Oak is said to be wise....it's limbs providing an umbrella to life's storms...the bark over time sluffs away like our own skin....yet it grows new bark...like a rebirth of sorts. The shade it provides is always so forgiving from the harsh glare of the sun. If only we could carry that old oak tree around with us every where we went. Maybe then we wouldn't feel so vulnerable.
I once held life's greatest joy
futures road lie before me
All that was or ever been
blessed as the tall Oak tree
A tree that lives to be old..like us mortals is truly blessed.
"Age is a reward...not a right."

A beautifully rooted poem, Tate... the old Oak, is inspirational, and has strong roots, we all want to lean on, (even I love to be burried under) Nice work!
I like the photo. Made the feel of the poem have life. A lone tree where life had been and will be. I like the journey and the story in the words of your poem. Many people come and go. They stay hidden away and appear sometime. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

I love the thought that went into this. I recently experienced something similar, and this poem spoke to me. I can feel the longing in your words, and I love it. Great job!
AMAZING. I....I can't even...begin to describe how amazing this is. YOU HAVE TALENT! Publish. Do something to get these poems out to other people....beyond the web. I...that sounds bossy. I'm sorry. But this is truly amazing.
"Dreams this way linger long..." I love that line, and this:
"I look back longing my days
just to find where I fell last
How can we see the future
who don't remember our past"
Quoted before in another review but....the wording and just...the longing in that stanza is goosebump inducing. I could go on and on, but I'm really truly just...shocked speechless. :) Please keep up the beautiful poetry! The world needs great poems like this.
I totally agree with Tommy. You always seem to put into words lifes emotions, lifes journeys, lifes questions, lifes what if's, lifes love and despair. And the reader is alsways wowed by your writings, your wording, the music and photos you add. You always seem to bring the reader into that same emotion that you have written about and with.
Life is a hard road, but blessed is the overcomer.
Great piece Tate
I really liked the poem! The only thing that seriously bothered me was the size of the text. It was way too big for my taste. Otherwise, really good poem.
