Memories Refrain

Memories Refrain

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Staring at my reflection. Lines of living on my face. Struggling hard to remember. Past moments born of grace.

"

_________________________

I’d spent so many years.
Being a husband and father.
And now I stand all alone.
Why did I ever bother?

_________________________

Staring at my reflection.
Lines of living on my face.
Struggling hard to remember.
Past moments born of grace.

________________________

Despite my shattered heart
The pain so hard to bear.
I'd felt within my ashes
Some tiny ember would flare.

________________________

With that little piece of hope
I reached out through the night.
My wounded soul in shadow
Searching for the golden light.

_______________________

Living through pain and fear.
Your words fan the flame
Of that tiny ember burning.
That held memory’s refrain.

Tate

I am digging this morning, Tate. :)

Came across this..
This is rather a coming of age and coming to terms piece. The feelings very raw and real.
Even though you have left this simple and unadorned, the impact of the words is felt.

Wonderful piece! :)
