Believe In Me

Believe In Me

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I for one did stay behind , when everyone else grew up.

"

Granddaughter Payton

If snow turned to ice ‘cream

milky ways were candy bars

Then the sky turned lucid

and began to rain stars

 _________________________

Mud pies taste like cookies

fall leaves would turn to gold

I'd fly to Santa's Castle

without ever getting cold

 _________________________

The wild west witch would love me

as she brewed her dinner of souls

I'd have all my fine clothing

bright and shiny none with holes

 _________________________

Where did all the innocence go

how did we get so jaded

What did we do with all those dreams

could our lives be so faded

__________________________

I for one did stay behind

when everyone else grew up

I don't want to be a dog

I'd rather be a pup

We may not be able to go back there .But in my mind is a story still unfinished of a curious boy and the adventures of the big world.

Oh yes! I wish I'd read this before because by now I'd have read it a dozen or more times - if you know what I mean!

Love the thought of never growing up, living in a world of sweet make-believe where life is jumping in puddles and thunder is only mischievous angels slamming Heaven's gates!

There's a sweet juxtaposition of thought in this : ' The wild west witch would love me. As she brewed her dinner of souls. I'd have all my fine clothing. Bright and shiny none with holes.'

Thank you for sharing this .. it's all heart!

Tate,

This is an excellent write in many ways...One is the metaphoric language...Another is that it contains things that we all have thought about or wished for at sometimes in our lives...We all have that child within us if we would just let it emerge...The song that accompanies this poem is one that I used to listen to when one of my grandson's was young...I think that it was on cassett tape that was suppose to be for children...Keep the creative pen flowing..Sunflower

I love this! I am only 16 and yet I feel as if my childhood is over. It's not fair. I didn't have fun as a kid. Like you said, I think we do all want to be pups. :D

I liked the message a lot.

A brand new key... This is a wonderful poem .. losing touch with our inner child
is a crime... I still make those mud pies and catch fireflys..
Suck on honeysuckles .. this makes me want my childhood back even more .. but we all grow though we can still be 'pups'.

Charming, and inciting a deep, warm smile...!

As long as I get to be house trained, I don't mind being a pup. If not I fear I would not have a place to live for long. lol. I love the message of this piece. We need to find the free spirited child in us. If we could, I feel life would go by more pleasantly for all of us; wouldn't it.

Tommy

"Have all the colors run together?
Did we lose our sense of awe?
Can we ever get back to dreamland?
Do we not believe what we saw?"

Methinks that "little child within" comes out to play quite frequently with you! lol ;)

Just beautiful Tate....much enjoyed!
