Believe In Me

Believe In Me

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I for one did stay behind , when everyone else grew up.

"

Granddaughter Payton

If snow turned to ice ‘cream

milky ways were candy bars

Then the sky turned lucid

and began to rain stars

 _________________________

Mud pies taste like cookies

fall leaves would turn to gold

I'd fly to Santa's Castle

without ever getting cold

 _________________________

The wild west witch would love me

as she brewed her dinner of souls

I'd have all my fine clothing

bright and shiny none with holes

 _________________________

Where did all the innocence go

how did we get so jaded

What did we do with all those dreams

could our lives be so faded

__________________________

I for one did stay behind

when everyone else grew up

I don't want to be a dog

I'd rather be a pup

We may not be able to go back there .But in my mind is a story still unfinished of a curious boy and the adventures of the big world.

Oh yes! I wish I'd read this before because by now I'd have read it a dozen or more times - if you know what I mean!

Love the thought of never growing up, living in a world of sweet make-believe where life is jumping in puddles and thunder is only mischievous angels slamming Heaven's gates!

There's a sweet juxtaposition of thought in this : ' The wild west witch would love me. As she brewed her dinner of souls. I'd have all my fine clothing. Bright and shiny none with holes.'

Thank you for sharing this .. it's all heart!

A beautiful poem. A pleasure to read, as always. :)

Egads, another one sworn to staying young, with full open eyes to learn, a soft heart to love, and the mobility and ability to learn what is important..Dylan sang "May you stay forever young", and you got his wish, Tate..good for you, and good for the world of poetry.
enjoyed

Love it, and the idea of staying a pup might not be possible, but the idea is great. At least we can see things with child like eyes if we refuse to allow this old world to polute us too much!

This is so cute and I love the idea of being a pup, never growing up, all the fun to be had! Great job

Nostalgia….
For bygone days of childhood….
Is another version of our craving for that innocence….
That we lost in the long run…
Loved the theme so much…
Its great….

As we get older we loose that sense of innocense and we don't see things as a child but as an adult. Innocense is so beautiful!

Nice poem, it's sweet, and I love it! One of my favorite subjects :) It's so true, I wish I could stay a kid forever, but I know I can't. It's a sad fact, but I'm holding onto it as long as I can :)

Beautiful write :)
