Life

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Life is not a race to be won.

"

                                                     Tatertot

I wonder where the songs come from

watching children skip all 'round

Playing like time had no meaning

as snow fell upon the ground

Man's last words are never of work

nor to rule the entire world

They wish they'd spent time with others

as enlightenment's unfurled

When you rush along through your day

throwing out gifts un-opened

The dreams your parents had for you

the ones that go unspoken

Take time out of your stressful day

and try not to dance so fast

Life is not a race to be won

sadly the music won't last

The chance to dance upon this world is granted to us but once. Don't live the last half in regrets of lost moments from the first.

This is what I was looking for... Its so inspiring!!! Beautiful thoughts and beautiful words Tate... You always come up with something that's so overwhelming... There's so much to learn from you!
Time just slips through our hands and life just passes by when we are so busy planning...
Gifts un-opened, dreams unspoken... these are wonderful expressions!
Thanks for sharing! :)

And you have beautiful kids!!! :)))

There is such a beautiful message flowing through your words. You give us deep insight into living and loving, and the richness that is life if we will but slow down and listen. Magnificent.

i agree with the super pretty blonde! very wise and well put together. its a great message and one spoken of many times but i like how there were so many great metaphors used but it was still literal at times and easy to interput. a poem with a message like that should be

This one is truly wise and full of passion to live for the right reasons.. to embrace those around you.. we still do have to work... live.. strive and play.. but unfortunately I have found the more you work the faster time goes by.. next thing you know your like me 38! lol.. time does go by quickly while at work and play.. I loved the rhythm, rhyme and flow of this.. the butterflies line I could relate to.. I remember catching them with my son.. as well as grasshoppers.. and yes I chased them too! My daughter wasn't into bugs.. but more into riding her bike, playing at the playground (I've gone down slides, merry-go-rounds .. gone sledding too). I looked at having my children as a second chance at childhood.. and had alot of fun doing it too being a parent you can sometimes do the most fun and ridiculous things and not look totally foolish while doing them! Hope others hear this message and just know that mom's can have fun too! =)
