Our Humanity

Our Humanity

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Only when we hope in love defined. Do we bother search for our humanity.

"

Man feels such zest of emotion

till it sets his whole mind afire

Calling forth his inner demons

fueling him run instead of tire

No problem then seems too immense

to not warrant a good man’s deeds

The boy hurt on the inside finds

he is the man this child now needs

Life's truths keep turning round and round

generations each wax and wane

Loving ones pick up the pieces

of the small child that still remain

Who among us can rightly say

he has himself just walked on by

To leave the injured child alone

within hearts lonesome soul to cry

It seems we need no help learning

epitaphs of profanity

But when our eyes see love defined

that's where we find humanity

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Will man ever learn his children are his future? Other peoples children mean just as much to their family as well. May we all pause at the thought of pain for any childs sake. To our servicemen I would like to say "Let your heart be your guide and though you might be scarred by your experiences. May your memories flow to the times when the noblest of your nature won out. Will we ever realize just how much we are asking of our children?

I am simply mystified at how your soulful work can stir something so deep in my spirit. Something I can't quite put my finger on, is it the intent, the content, the commonality of experiences you describe or possibly a combination thereof. Maybe it is something which simply defies my own ability to describe that which keeps me seeking out and devouring your work like a hungry puppy. Just loved it and appreciate your shout out to our servicemen.

Hi Tate,
From the emotional impact of the image you provided to the last line of your emotional words I am moved beyond any words I can use to describe how I feel..
You really said it all..

A poem that bolsters the inner person, encouraging and reminding of strength that lies within, both past and present experiences and journeys together facing and bridging to our tomorrows. Thanks Tate. When my cousin died from work related injuries in the Gulf War both our little children kind of died.

thank you i appreciate that
Just came across this one, Tate, and the words mean as much today as they did then. We are the children...and the children are us...we must have their backs now so they will have ours when we need them.
Well written truths here.

'Our Humanity'
Tate Morgan,
The title fits. For this is world is indeed all of our humanity. You made some good points above. Just as we love our children so do others. Someone hurt in life can be just the father or mother that their child needs. Love is work and an important one.
Blessings,
Kathy

when i was a teen and into my early 20s, i of course knew everything, was 100% correct and was at odds with my parents and their generation ... and then i grew up ;)
it sometimes seems so easy ... if we all could only see that the material world is not worth anything compared to our souls ... that shared governance really has teeth to it in the way of sacrifice ... and when pressed to say ... go ahead and take what i have instead of protecting ... fighting for right .. would that person taking really learn anything? as many times as i ask myself .. i find the same answer ... no... probably not .. in fact me and my household are more likely to become a target until i barely have the clothes on my back (please forgive the cliche') i love the nobility of your poem ..its plea for a truly loving co-operation of all humanity .. there is a longing for it even .. i really am blasted by these lines Tate:
"The boy hurt on the inside finds
he is the man this child now needs"
the play on men that are boys inside and children forced by circumstance to be far more adult than they should is brilliant says i! always a treat to see you are visiting and posting Tate ... very inspirational poem for me!

These words are very relevent to many situations other than war. But do we need to be hurt in order to feel another's hurt? I think you profound poem shows the best side of humanity, something we could all strive for. Trouble is, as your first verse illustates so well, that in war, the enemy is seen as inhuman. Let's hope that the 'loving ones who pick up the pieces', will shame those who caused it!

A wonderful tribute and a call to everyone to be the hero everyone’s child’s needs. We need to stop looking at other people’s children as not our problem. Every single child should be the concern of every single adult. We should all be working to create a more just and peaceful world for the children, for the future.
