Songs Of Youth.

Songs Of Youth.

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Sadly Nicki Milligan my wife's mother passed away without event Friday February 2nd 2018

"

      Nicki and Harold Milligan

           Parents of my wife Becky

Grace and Eloquence knew you by name

playing together while you were young

The sweet smell of the summer breeze

lessons learned as you sung

Songs of the youth you once lived

white cloth flowing in the breeze

Wheat colored hair whisked in the wind

racing across fields with youthful ease

Think ye oh back upon those days

fondly remembering as we were

Cherished memories that we all save

another tomorrow of that we were sure

When life came in with the seasons

the cheering laughter of a friend

Secrets we all knew and saved

who would think it to ever end

Life has that way of fooling us

especially when we're young

Always promising another day

forever-another song to be sung

But like all great things we enjoy

the bill one day comes due

And as your friends each pass away

you wonder if next may be you

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I need not say what this is about. We all know don't we? Go see your parents and grandparents.
Life's time waits on none of us.
It masters fate with earnest callous.
Caring for none in favored mercy.
Helping not whom it shows malice.

They wont be here when you find the time to visit.
Do it while you are thinking of it.
There is no regret like that dealt to the one who wasn't there when needed.

Such a beautiful thing, to find that love and live out your days. lovely sentiments Tate :) Loved the photo! Of course we're never growing old though :)

the image of the picture on top really illustrates the sentiment. they were blessed to grow old together and have similar reminisces. your poem makes me feel like i should be grateful and be mindful of my time with loved ones.

I loved this so much, I make sure I go see my grandparents all the time and or call them on the phone. I wish I would have been able to read this poem before my mom, but I learn from my mistakes and I know that time is not promised to any of us. We are here and just waiting for our time to tick by.

This is a great read and I everyone should read this one:) You have done a great job on this.

Moving, Tate. It's like paging through an old photo album or watchiing an old silent movie. This leaves me with that same feeling...smiling while tears run down the cheeks. It's fundementally human.
Great, Tate.

Outstanding wisdom in this poem, reminding us of what things in life are important to us. Excellent poem Tate, we all need that shot in the arm every now and then to remind us that life is precious and we should not take it for granted. Your poetry always carries with it meaningful messages which I very much enjoy reading.

Makes me think of the last time I saw my Grandmother, who was incredibly intuitive. It was early summer I believe about twenty years ago now. She came out to vist me, my sister and parents. She lived on the other side of the country.
She said to me, "This will be the last time I see you William" I told her it would'nt be and that I would come and see her at Christmas. I didn't make it out to see her and she died that New Years Eve. It brings tears to my eyes as I write this Tate, yet I am greatful for your message. I really hope others take it to heart.

I want to meet my grandparents soon! How well you write and how well you end the poem in the last stanza! Perfect poem and it also tells what "procrastination" just means! WOW! Thank you for sharing this one, sir!
