My Girl

My Girl

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

The girl I loved most in life

"

My Girl

With the girl I loved most in life

I walked in street lamps glow

Could she hear my heart calling

for the love I never show

Treading lightly along beside

her footprints marked the snow

The warmth of heart I felt for her

I doubt she will ever know

With the girl I loved most in life

I walked in street lamps glow

Oh if I could stop Earth turning

then she might never go

What a beautiful, romantic poem, Tate. I detect a note of uncertainty as well in the last two lines of both the second and third stanzas as is the way with love, with everything really. The imagery is beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing.

Short but an oh so filled romantic piece. Somethings are best and more heartfelt in a short format. Lovely, superb read.

"Oh if I could stop Earth turning
then she might never go" Goodness. The last line touched my heart. Such intense emotion captured in just two lines.

Romantic poetry to me is one of the hardest genres to write. Tate you did very well with this one. Not maudlin or mushy, but with maximum effect and a minimum of words. Often less is more. Great write Tate!

Very beautiful. A sympathetic rendering of one of Earth's most numerous creatures: the tongue-tied man. Still, this touches my heart.
