Why?

Why?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We tend to be so predictable as a species. Predatory to the core. Yet here and there I see hope of evolution taking a kinder approach. Lets Hope before we kill us all.

"

If I could only see the truth

to look beyond our simple ways

I would love knowledge even more

than all the lies of long gone days

If man could put away his sword

and beat to plowshares all he'd worn

Then I might be able to see the light

and forget the failings, of those I scorn

If we were not such fragile beings

that prayed for things not needed

Then I might think we had a chance

but all the lessons still go unheeded

If life would only start as it ends

with great knowledge left to share

We might not trample each other

then sin to hide what we must bear

If life could only do all these things

I would live deep in the truth so wise

To take the life, that I've been given

and turn to God with forgiving eyes

I think we are of one Spirit my friend...we love...and that is our calling and our creed. We are misunderstood...we are called weak...presumed naive...when our strength and wisdom is the very thing others fail to find an empathy for...and it saddens us. But we have no fear, knowing that love which resides within us is greater than the evil which abides in the world. Keep fighting the good fight. Wonderful write.

Tate,

I love the song you chose above, and am convinced that Oswald was, either set up, or, at least had help, as per the Kevin Costner movie JFK, and the book, which I do have, 22 November 1963 ... Sadly, it does appear that Man would prefer to kill than to get along ... Another excellently splendid piece of Poetry ...!

Let:s hope we wake up and smell the coffee before it's too late. We destroy each other and the very planet we call home. I remember the day Kennedy was murdered. Even though I was a young child I was so shocked. My Dad told me that would never happen in England, but we have had our own share of misfortune since then. Killing seems to be the name of the game these days. So much of it and it sickens. Hope you are doing OK Tate.

well said Tate! somber deep wise reflections ... so true it takes some amount of living to realize them ... if, as your poem suggests we were born with all that knowledge, wisdom and experiences ... who knows where we might be at our death time ....wow!
1st and 3rd places Tate!!! big congrats :)

Wow. As always Tate you did not disappoint. This piece speaks volumes of wisdom in such a short amount of words I hope that someday humanity really listens and embraces this kind of knowledge for what it's truly worth. We live in a volatile time so afraid of one another and so apt to rash violence that it feels as though we've reverted back to the days of early hominids. It's frightening to say the least and this poem in many ways captures that fear and that frustration and that desperation to find a way back to enlightenment and hope that which this world desperately needs. For without hope, despite Pandora's mistakes, we are lost. Excellent as always my friend.

'Why?'
Tate Morgan,
To hope is in the heart of man. To wish for good is a part of all people and when tragedy is too heavy the inner being becomes calloused , broken shattered. We are fragile creatures. To veiw one another with eyes which recognize that we are all needing affirmation. Affirmation is not costly but free. Pride is the stumbling block which gets in the way of healing.
Blessings,
Kathy
