Why?

Why?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We tend to be so predictable as a species. Predatory to the core. Yet here and there I see hope of evolution taking a kinder approach. Lets Hope before we kill us all.

"

If I could only see the truth

to look beyond our simple ways

I would love knowledge even more

than all the lies of long gone days

If man could put away his sword

and beat to plowshares all he'd worn

Then I might be able to see the light

and forget the failings, of those I scorn

If we were not such fragile beings

that prayed for things not needed

Then I might think we had a chance

but all the lessons still go unheeded

If life would only start as it ends

with great knowledge left to share

We might not trample each other

then sin to hide what we must bear

If life could only do all these things

I would live deep in the truth so wise

To take the life, that I've been given

and turn to God with forgiving eyes

I think we are of one Spirit my friend...we love...and that is our calling and our creed. We are misunderstood...we are called weak...presumed naive...when our strength and wisdom is the very thing others fail to find an empathy for...and it saddens us. But we have no fear, knowing that love which resides within us is greater than the evil which abides in the world. Keep fighting the good fight. Wonderful write.

Why? A question we will never truly understand or have the answer to. A very powerful and thoughtful poem that makes me question why myself. I remember watching the footage from his assignation and Jackie's expression as she was reaching for him. A very heart breaking moment in time.

It was the accident it was horrific his brain landed in her lap
pretty expressive piece about peace...and a telling photograph before the poem...

before the assassination...if only we would learn our lessons from all the bad stuff that has happened because of our recklessness.

Excellent poem. Well done my friend. A call to justice, mercy and forgiveness.
I am a Dallas resident and lived here also when I was in College at age 20.
My father was at the Downtown Dallas Motorcade Parade and looked into JFK's eyes just minutes before he was shot. I have been interviewed for the Dallas Morning News article to be run on the Anniversary date and will try to print my response in Writer's Cafe.. Thanks for remembering.

They shot John F.Kennedy to make him famous.
The killers are merciless and their act is heinous.

Kindness seems to be the exception, not the norm. Striving towards a positive difference.
Faith in something much bigger and beyond ourselves.
Change does not come without effort.....

Thank you Len We will never learn .We will go to grave screaming for another chance.
This poem made me cry , often i do though for humankind ...Your words touched my heart
and soul...so many whys...Why can't we take time to feel what others are feeling? Why can't we share? Why can't we keep guns out of the hands of evil, vile and or deranged people?
Tate, true words of wisdom.

The picture of JFK and Jackie , oh how happy they look ,, was the day he died the day America lost so much of her innocence?
