Childhood Nights

Childhood Nights

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

How sweet our former lives.

"

me Tony Kernie

Me on the left Tony in the middle and Kerny on the right

In dreams of my sweet former life

 with the wonders childhood poses

I find those friends I left behind

still so young and fresh like roses

I wonder if to them I'm old

when they think upon occasion

Do they wonder as, I do

of that inner child's persuasion

To me they are the cherished ones

memories of lost summer nights

When we played hide and seek till dark

enriched by all life's smells and sights

In dreams they live on as before

echoes of games we use to play

I start each night as they ended

with the dreams from yesterday

its true like they say...show me a child before the age of seven and i will show you the man.
I believe the rest of our lives is spent working our way back to that beautiful carefree innocence.
Nice work Tate.

Childhood captured sweetly here. The child within lives on in our hearts forever.

Beautifully put. When young, I think the newness of world; its sights, sounds and experiences impress us like no other time.

I agree with your sentiment and i think so many can relate through your words. They are very emotive and create a connection to the feeling in the words.

fav lines:

In dreams of my sweet former life
with the wonders childhood poses
I find those friends I left behind
still so young and fresh like roses

You are a master of the sentimental poem, and I found the 1st stanza especially exceptional.

Being an emotional person, I sometimes find your topic choice a bit overly nostalgic but it's more just a personal preference, of mine not to over-read what I already am.

i often think of my childhood, in fact i posted a new write on that subject the other night. it is a recurring theme in my thought process. this was, of course, splendidly handled by your very capable and talented pen. i always know i am going to touch greatness when i read your work. well done!

Beautiful Tate. but lol Childhood is not that far away. I sometimes feel I am going through a 2nd Childhood. I want to play hide and seek and tag and so much more. I want to play with dolls again too lol. I also want to collect rocks and such. I used to do this along time ago. I still have my inner child. : ) I am willing to bet you do too. : )

Honest and vulnrable capturing the awkwardness of an adult seeing the wolrd through a childs eyes. Great stuff, Tate.
