The Secret

The Secret

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

A Dream

"

Becky
Happy 14th Anniversary.

I dreamed three words within my mind

that longed to touch her heart
Each a third of the love
I had felt for her from the start

I'd hid these words I'd treasured so
praying they would only heed
But needing love they wanted out
to touch the soul they'd freed

So now at last I let them fly
as all would freely do
That she might know the first be I
the others Love and You

This was stunning! I saw so much in you piece that I felt as if i were reading one of my own. To hide behind ourselves, as I know many of us do, including I! Then to suddenly feel that freedom to come forth and speak of what is in our hearts is a feeling of re-birth. Like being a child again and finding their first joy in life and running with it.. That's what I saw in your piece. The feelings of 'at last I am free'

Fantastic!

brilliantly written. so simple, yet i love the last stanza, how you pieced together the words 'i love you' in such a beautiful fashion. a gorgeous write!

The only reason we hid our feelings is because we are afraid of rejection or of being hurt. How freeing it is when we finally speak the words and find we are loved even greater for taking the chance.

I think everyone goes through hiding their feelings for someone. Great job.

your beautiful poetry softens even the most hardened hearts...it's refreshing to read love being expressed in this manner...'what the world needs now is love, sweet love...' takes me back to a time when it's still possible to speak like that without strange looks..."each a third of the love" is a clever line very well expressed...emotive and romantic :))
