built on shattered dreams of others

These the thoughts I pondered for years

and cried for half a century

"Lift up your sons, put down your guns

empty your penitentiary”

"Pick up the sad, lonely and poor

help your friends in humility

 Open your soul, make that your goal

put away your hostility”

This struggle in the depths of my heart

so relentless yet so profound

echo's in waves, patriot graves

where mothers tears cover the ground

A grateful nation now reports

the cry that began as a plea

That's shook our core, with something more

all the way to Antiquity

An excellent piece of poetic philosophy my friend. I see so much disrespect of our fellow human beings in this world. Public degradation of others is not how to sow unity. Much of this influence comes from our “leaders”. When we compare the leaders of yesterday to today, we can see a clear difference in respect for one another. Thank you Ana I sure hope you are right The truth of our predicament is so much more dire than the false fantasy we tell ourselves. But what is really sad is this. We have the choice between an upright man of character who spent a lifetime trying to help the sick, poor, indigent and old. And a corporate shill who has sold her soul in a Faustian bargain for power. Along with a unabashed self prophetic narcissist. who lives in a world inhabited by only himself.

Difficult to comment on this, as it might lead into very political arguments. And as a Brit I`m not too sureI should get involved. I ( personally) like him too, but he might be considered too left to beat Trump,so Clinton might be the safer bet. And I think you make him here into a Saint. He is a politician...

I understand your comment. He is unlike any politician any of us have ever seen before. In fifty years you cannot find a single issue he has changed on . he has rung the same bell for half a century. As politicians go i look at his net worth after 35 yrs in paid public life he is worth $300,000. I look at Hillary after after 15 yrs in paid office she has amassed 200,000,000 in wealth from paid speeches to wealthy bankers. The math alone tells me which is right. I look at Hillaries career not a year of it is without scandal While his is immaculate and exemplary. There is no comparison here One a sinner one a saint. Thank you Les

must be a great man Tate. I don't like music with poems as a personal preference but That's me lol I find it interferes with the thoughts that come up with reading a poem so everybody who has a song firstly gets turned off! Having said that, a great poem! Its like you don't have to have a video to hear a song unless the video is better than the song which is often the case these days lol If a song is good it should be able to stand alone by itself!

if what i saw today is any indication of the progress we have to look forward to in this country it is sad but It is also failing. I saw a girl crying hysterically after phone banking in South Carolina. The one girl was so distraught at the hatred an vitriolic fervor of the south that she burst into tears.Parts of the south are caught in a time warp of ignorance.
