Something More

Something More

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Don't wait till your life is all done to learn the lessons of a fool Know the rewards of self are none where love of others is the rule

"
Payton and I
Payton and I

What is the value of a life

built on shattered dreams of others

And so it's thus, for each of us

who can't feel for our own brothers

These the thoughts I pondered for years

and cried for half a century

"Lift up your sons, put down your guns

empty your penitentiary”

"Pick up the sad, lonely and poor

help your friends in humility

Open your soul, make that your goal

put away your hostility”

This struggle in the depths of my heart

so relentless yet so profound

echo's in waves, patriot graves

where mothers tears cover the ground

A grateful nation now reports

the cry that began as a plea

That's shook our core, with something more

all the way to Antiquity

What the world needs is healing. Not division. Not to notice how we are dissimilar. But to see how we are alike.

An excellent piece of poetic philosophy my friend. I see so much disrespect of our fellow human beings in this world. Public degradation of others is not how to sow unity. Much of this influence comes from our “leaders”. When we compare the leaders of yesterday to today, we can see a clear difference in respect for one another. In the end, what really matters is what matters anyway.

Such a shame he stood down, the machine that is politics is such a farce.

Regards your poem: I read it out of context and I couldn't help thinking about Northern Ireland all the way though. I don't think that you had that in mind when you wrote this but I think it fits perfectly - which is interesting (and potentially very telling?).

Thank you you would like this guy he is one of a kind
Took me awhile to get the time once back, again with powerful touching words an amazingly accurate write. Bernie has stood against the tide since he was young, a man living the life of a poet through actions instead of words. Amazingly done Tate.

Thank you Chilson
Coming from the UK, I had only heard a little about Bernie Saunders, so I took some time to read about him in a little more depth.

He is clearly a passionate and compassionate man; but more importantly, at least to me, he looks kind and genuinely caring. The photograph you posted of him comforting a Muslim student gives me hope that all is not yet lost.

Beccy.

Thank you so much Jamie
I admire your always well written, excellently rhymed and easy flowing poetry and this one is no exception. The subject matter is another matter. My personal preference is to avoid politics (and politicians in general) especially in the poetry environment. Poetrywise a great write!

Thank you Pryde oh if only the mindset of the united States would soften
I voted for Bernie in the primaries. He had the heart, Hillary had the connections. The Clinton machine's a force to be reckoned with. Bernie's crew found that out. Great poem Tate
