Something More

Something More

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Don't wait till your life is all done to learn the lessons of a fool Know the rewards of self are none where love of others is the rule

"
Payton and I
Payton and I

What is the value of a life

built on shattered dreams of others

And so it's thus, for each of us

who can't feel for our own brothers

These the thoughts I pondered for years

and cried for half a century

"Lift up your sons, put down your guns

empty your penitentiary”

"Pick up the sad, lonely and poor

help your friends in humility

Open your soul, make that your goal

put away your hostility”

This struggle in the depths of my heart

so relentless yet so profound

echo's in waves, patriot graves

where mothers tears cover the ground

A grateful nation now reports

the cry that began as a plea

That's shook our core, with something more

all the way to Antiquity

What the world needs is healing. Not division. Not to notice how we are dissimilar. But to see how we are alike.

An excellent piece of poetic philosophy my friend. I see so much disrespect of our fellow human beings in this world. Public degradation of others is not how to sow unity. Much of this influence comes from our “leaders”. When we compare the leaders of yesterday to today, we can see a clear difference in respect for one another. In the end, what really matters is what matters anyway.

Very true indeed.
Every once in a while, a politician comes along whose values are clearly a cut above the rest. You clearly hold him in the highest esteem and this is a fine tribute to the man. Over here is the UK, I can't think of one I could rank so highly.

Thank you Christine think the man deserves the laurels i give him
Lovely poignant poem, a personal reflection on a man who will be remembered in history
I think some people are destined not to have any influence in their lifetime. But I think later on people will listen and learn from them. Although I think Bernie Sanders will become influential in his lifetime, from what I am hearing, today.

Wonderful and true are these words- if only people would take time to know the heart and whatvtruly lies within and how it needsto best for others and not just oneself- the confusion is when mind and heart trade places and we forget that until we sort the thoughts of the heart out , it will remain a very noisy chamber-🌹

Thank you rose
This is amazingly expressed with such deep feeling! It makes me want to cry for our nation, especially now that we're further down this rocky road that diverged from the Bernie option & into something unfathomable in the past 2 years since you wrote this. Many of us are still hoping for a similar & possibly more youthful possibility in the near future! Your sincerity is singing off the page (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie

Bernie truly is a great man. Such a shame the way the masses can't see that.
