A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Is the duality of nature the cornerstone of our own conscience?

"
Hippie Chic

Granddaughter Payton and I pondering the truths of the universe.

Often I ponder the question

can one think too much for ones good

Until it becomes an obsession

on wondering if a man should

Why do I query my own mind

as sadly I prove myself right

The two halves becoming entwined

in tauntings that cause them to fight

Is this my own duality

with the conscience I hold so dear

Or do I taste mortality

with it's old friend mighty fear

I find myself set in my ways

unlike those nights back in my youth

When I was such a fire ablaze

who never questioned life or truth

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
The heights and depths of a poets life are filled with joys beyond compare and depths of despair. However I wouldn't trade that for a life of dull monotony.
One thing for sure we know Love. We know pain. They are two sides of the same coin. However they are the way we balance life leaping from one trial into another. We love with all our being and when disappointed we cry from the depths of the Heart.

Often I find my own mind is at odds with itself and I wonder if this is the duality of nature or the cornerstone of our own conscience?
I look at my granddaughter and all I see is absolutes.

LOL where have you been my entire life!...words to fill the Spirit and question the soul!...ahhh choices and the on- going battle within..( that coming from an over-thinker myself) BUT, look at that child! There it is...perfection with endless possibilities.

We act impulsively in youth, and overthink in later years... Enjoyed this, Tate - makes me realize that I'm not alone... :)

Brilliant.
Yes I think over thinking and over analysing is no good for anyone. So best to handle each day as it comes taking with it its ups and downs saying "hey ho"

Food for thought ... (Or not) 😉

Thank you Dante. She is a peach lol
We learn so much in life that it can become overwhelming at times.
We carry around way too much. The thoughts you express here bring
the human spirit into question. The poem is a true reflection of life.

Zeitgeist Thank you .Yes the older I get the more I am forced to contemplate my own place in life.
Age brings serenity... and with that is the ability to see both sides of everything and that nothings black and white...

I can relate to your points of views so easily I smiled. Excellent poetry Tate, well expressed. Such a big gap or difference from the innocence of youth to being more wiser which comes with a load!

So am I Tate
I accept the truths as I see them, perhaps at times through lying eyes, however, knowing full well that my tomorrows will mirror my yesterday's. I know no other way and it is right there that I acknowledge my cornerstone. Whatever my past or future trials, nothing will or ever can be greater than the love, joy and happiness that helped carry me to this moment. I enjoyed your take on this subject. Barbz
