A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Is the duality of nature the cornerstone of our own conscience?

"
Hippie Chic

Granddaughter Payton and I pondering the truths of the universe.

Often I ponder the question

can one think too much for ones good

Until it becomes an obsession

on wondering if a man should

Why do I query my own mind

as sadly I prove myself right

The two halves becoming entwined

in tauntings that cause them to fight

Is this my own duality

with the conscience I hold so dear

Or do I taste mortality

with it's old friend mighty fear

I find myself set in my ways

unlike those nights back in my youth

When I was such a fire ablaze

who never questioned life or truth

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
The heights and depths of a poets life are filled with joys beyond compare and depths of despair. However I wouldn't trade that for a life of dull monotony.
One thing for sure we know Love. We know pain. They are two sides of the same coin. However they are the way we balance life leaping from one trial into another. We love with all our being and when disappointed we cry from the depths of the Heart.

Often I find my own mind is at odds with itself and I wonder if this is the duality of nature or the cornerstone of our own conscience?
I look at my granddaughter and all I see is absolutes.

LOL where have you been my entire life!...words to fill the Spirit and question the soul!...ahhh choices and the on- going battle within..( that coming from an over-thinker myself) BUT, look at that child! There it is...perfection with endless possibilities.

That is an interesting point. I have also noticed that in myself, as I crossed over age 30, I became much more philosophical and spent a great deal more time thinking about things--things that before never dawned on me. Before that, life was mainly action.

youth is more for doing and trying as age is for thinking. is only natural that as we grow older we know what we want after having tried different things and ways. can very much relate to these very honest and open thoughts. hindsight is 20/20 whilst foresight can be clouded ... :)

much to contemplate here in your personal contemplation. I can relate very well to "Is this my own duality with the conscience I hold so dear Or do I taste mortality with it's old friend mighty fear." Mortality and fear are very present fiends in a time of trouble. Thanks for the thoughtful prodding. -carl

Thank you Carl sorry I missed reading this
Humor based poems I am partial to, tis a fact, and that may be why I liked this one.
But as soon as I got to the Yen & Yang of your poem, I concluded that you may be a Gemini and that is why you feel; ("The two halves becoming entwined --- in taunting's that cause them to fight")
However, if you are not born in June, then you may have the same problem the rest of us do. ;) Thanks for the fun read.

I think most poets are natural philosopher's. I think you definitely meet the mold. I don't have the ability to write in these depths as you and others, but someone has to. Great job!

Hi Levi thank you friend I hope you are well
You have amazed yet again! How perfectly you address what goes on in the mind, when it is in that dual state. I found myself nodding while reading the words. We do fight in our own minds and it is useless I find in the end. Thank you for sharing this!
