Time

Time

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We count most years of life well spent the few touched by sorrow well lost I know the best that came and went the others bought at twice the cost

"
becky and i

It takes some time to find the way

that leads us to life's master plan

Till then we take it day by day

as the boy grows to be a man

We count most years of life well spent

the few touched by sorrow well lost

I know the best that came and went

others purchased at twice the cost

We sway in rhythm to the time

as we dance through years and weather

Matching hearts beat to inner rhyme

we'll end it the same together

When minds are tired and our hearts old

oh we'll cherish those days of strife

For one more chance to be so bold

as to touch heaven in this life

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
It is always with the greatest humility that I admit that any man who holds within himself the feeling of greatness has a woman who grants him that bravado.

Always philosophical, Tate. I do tend to agree with Marie, however, on that V.2 line 3. - 'that' came and went instead of 'have' came and went. There is always a certain wistfulness about your poetry, that life is passing by too quickly, and you are looking back already, before it's done. Hang on to the present, my friend, before it also becomes the past.

Thank you TL I suppose i wax on about Becky at times But she makes me smile
I love the fact that you have used the notion of eternity without reducing it to fatalism.
The fact that there is an eventuality to life and those who live is articulated rather poignantly in your poem.

As always, I seem to get emotional succor from your poems, Tate. Keep writing, and we'll not stop reading. :)

Best, M.

Very reflective, again a lot of wisdom and easy to relate. That's indeed great poetry, a great example of a counter-tendency with regards to the so-called "poesie du moi".
