My daughter Aris's life is about to change. Her fiance is arriving home tonight on a flight from Afghanistan. I am going to be the man who walks her down the aisle fulfilling her childhood dream of getting married to prince charming. Has it really been that long?

I took my baby girl Beulah to college last month. I felt old. I did a prayer for her safety. Hard to grasp we cannot protect our little girls forever.

You're welcome. The hardest thing about being a parent is letting go. I find myself having to constantly and consciously let my son make his own choices and his own way, and his own failures. Does it ever get any easier?

It is these days of childhood that mold the boy into the man he becomes I wish you well in that endeavor .

Thanks. Actually, I've just had an IEP meeting about him (he has ADHD). The teachers and counselors all said the loved having him in their classes. He does have issues with math because of his focus and distractibility struggles. But, they said he was well liked by his peers; he's charming; he's brilliant (they said this numerous times) and gifted; and, they said he's compassionate and empathetic, and always ready to help. They said they thought he was going to grow up and make the world better. His homeroom teacher said: "He is a tremendously good person."

I offered up a prayer of thanks for the person he's becoming.
